A Mexican official told CNBC on Monday that trade talks with the U.S. have wrapped up, adding that an announcement could come later in the day.

Officials were in Washington trying to work out the issues as the Trump administration pushes to remake the 1994 agreement with the U.S., Mexico and Canada. There was some hope that a new NAFTA could be solidified before Mexico's government turnover on Dec. 1.

Announcement regarding this big trade deal at 8 am!

:2party:

A big win for America and fair trade. Way to go!

Deal must be good for the US of A ... Dow started off with a 150 point jump ...:2razz:

The devil is in the details. I'm hoping the Mexican auto workers wage increase goes through. Trump wants wages to go up in Mexico as a condition to level the playing field that way. That will help Mexico, and remove incentives for at least those Mexicans to stay in Mexico, but I think Mexico is afraid of us forcing other wages in Mexico up, too.

If he wins on that, that will be huge because it can be leveraged elsewhere. Time to start paying the screwdriver turner!

I will wait and see the details. Positive market reaction is good though.

It would only be front-page news if one of the Mexican participants had said to Trump "up yours".

True. That is the only way the left wing press will report on it.

You are a ****ing genius in a class of your own.

Both sides seem pretty positive and negotiations for better deals are always good. It will be interesting though to see how each sides reports how it went.

I can tell you: Both administrations will claim "victory".

The Mexican media will say Trump lost in the deal making.
The US of A media will say Trump lost in the deal making.

True. Hopefully it's something that can benefit America well, we will see what comes of it though.

That is definitely an interesting aspect of the deal, though still looking for the details. State imposed wages rarely work out the way they are intended, though.

That's not at all what was said by either side today.

I think we are in the 7th inning of this bull-run. We have about 1 1/2 more years of GREEN GREEN GREEN.

The only thing that can drastically change things if the Democrats take over the house. They would definitely be bad for the stock market.

I agree. I would like to see more a more equal trade deal.
NAFTA was supposed to generate a ton of revenue for the US and jobs.

what we saw was a ton of job shipped down to mexico because they can pay people 2 dollars an hour.

stocks have now jump 250 points and the nasdaq broke 8k for the first time.

Trump said he would get a deal struck.

All this nonsense going on about trump and he does it again. He knows that these people are not going to come to the table willingly.
so he creates a situation to draw them out then sits down and get a deal hammered out.

If you notice once again china has manipulated their currency to keep their yuan protect against the rise in the dollar.
so friggen unethical. I have no issues with him putting the screws to them.

They refuse to deal fairly with anyone. To get anything manufactured over there companies have to hand over their IP.
next then you know a year later there is a similar product to yours on the shelf competing against you and costs half of what you
priced it at.

I wasn't aware that trump was fighting the trade war on that front but it's something I have been saying for years. We should be setting tariffs based on how countries treat their workers.

I thought the deal was a done deal. If Trump wants higher wages for Mexican workerst...that should be in the signed agreement.

You know like higher wages for US workers was the hope of the Tax giveaway. ...it wasn't in the language of the bill....but Trump, Ryan, and McConnell hoped employers would raise wages with the billions of dollars they got from the cut.

I hope the new Mexico deal is more than hopes and wishes...

Canada will be next!

I just heard they cut a EU visit short and are headed to DC.

The Canadian naysayers and haters should probably wipe the egg off their faces. :2razz:

NAFTA was approved by Congress as a treaty. I believe Congress needs to approve the agreement, and the government of Mexico, and the government of Canada. I believe the president-elect of Mexico looks positive but it would fail in the long run.

Kinda like the NK nuke deal? I'll celebrate once it's actually done.
