Any student who brought one (gun) would be forced to stand in a "3x3 taped square" in the back of the classroom. The teachers syllabus said that bringing a conceal-carry gun to class "is absurd, antisocial, and frightening behavior".

I think what she meant to say was that she hates all non-liberals. Enough to mock people that just want to defend themselves and others. Probably another jaded woman that hasnt bred yet and wants to treat college students like little bitches if they dont bow to her need for specific flavored respect eggshell zone.

It should say "teacher is forcibly resigned for shaming paying students who wish to be American"

This is sadly missing a photo where we see that this teacher looks something like this:

And just perhaps, she doesn't see why some students would view other students as a danger to their lives. So much so, they feel the need to be armed. Does she not have the right to that opinion?
Personally, when I see someone open carrying, I wonder what particular thing he is compensating for. Money, women, status, perhaps some physical attribute?

If that same person was an ambusher they'd just bring a knife to school and stab 15 people in the neck before people know whats going on.

You are shaming people for their right to be an American with the right to defense. Your making them look like absurd criminals because you hate them.

Nope. I don't hate them. I pity them for going through life in such a state of fear, state of whatever, that makes them feel they have to open carry. And I'm sure they believe that if everyone had a gun, it would be a much safer world. I disagree. I have a cabinet full of guns, and have a backstop and range to 100 yds in my back yard. But in GA, where I could easily get a permit, I see no reason to do so. I don't care if others do, but I also have my right to believe they are wrong and dismiss their doing so.

Of course there are legitimate opinions AGAINST concealed carry on campus. If she'd put her objections in a more adult manner, I'd have no problem with her expressing them. But the snowflake gun nuts got all upset so she got reassigned.... Poor things. Hope it didn't hurt their fee fees.

I support the teacher. If I was going to college again as a 18 year old. I would be willing to pay out of state fees in a state that are not gun nuts. Even that its a small university, I would not have a problem with the University of Vermont.

Seems like it was resolved; She violated state law and school policy...she was schooled on the error of her ways, was reassigned and apologized.

It appears unlikely that any other teacher at the school will make the same mistake in the wake of this incident.

She should have respected the civil rights of her fellow citizens.

She had an opinion. She expressed it. Sounds like civil rights to me. Or are opinions contrary to the NRA not allowed anymore? Maybe Trump will send her to a reeducation camp.

I thought you guys would be thrilled. She was reassigned and not rewarded for her liberal opinion. I thought Universities were evil liberalism factories.

But inserting her personal opinion into an official document like a syllabus is unprofessional.

Only when they need to avoid facts to protect their bad ideologies.

The way she did it was unprofessional, but a syllabus is often full of "personal opinion" - it's whatever the instructor wants it to be, part roadmap for what's coming up and part a statement of the instructor's principles, what they expect, what they hope to accomplish, etc.

If she had expressed a preference for a gun-free classroom with some reasoned explanations why, and there are several good ones IMO, then I can't see why anyone would object.

Expressing a preference is one thing, attempting to enforce it in violation of State law and school policy is another.

I agree with that. Instructors are allowed to have opinions, but they aren't allowed to operate their classes contrary to the rules of the University. And when they express their opinions, they should do so professionally. It's not a lot to ask really.

I don't carry out of fear anymore I wear my seat belt out of fear. I view my weapon and my seat belts as insurance tools.

It's unprofessional for sure. I just thought conservatives would be pleased that she was punished for her liberal opinion.

When it comes to their guns, they don't present a lot of logic in their arguments. Their entire platform is built on the false idea that "the left" just wants their guns, despite the clear evidence to the contrary. So when this teacher get yanked up for going overboard, they attach that as evidence to the platform.

And aside from guns always taking a front seat to all other issues, they will ignore that this teacher was yanked up by department/university heads because it doesn't jive with another false platform that universities are liberal breeding grounds that hate America.

Come to think of it, with "that's your education talking" as a routine default against "the left" in argument, there appears to be a lot of false platforms involved here.

I was instructed as a young man to ride as though every car out there was trying to kill me. Every car at an intersection would turn left in front of me. So to carry it through, every person with a gun, should be considered as someone who may try to kill me.

The funny thing about this is that in Utah you are legally able to carry on school grounds if you have a CCW and yet there has been no school shootings there let alone turned into the wild west as some would have you believe.
