President Trump on Wednesday revoked the security clearance of former CIA Director John Brennan.

"As the head of the executive branch and the commander in chief, I have a unique constitutional responsibility to protect the nation's classified information, including by controlling access to it," Trump said in a statement, read by White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders at Wednesday's press briefing.

Trump also said he is still reviewing access to classified information for several former intelligence officials, including James Clapper, James Comey, Michael Hayden, Sally Yates, Susan Rice, Andrew McCabe, Peter Strzok, Lisa Page and Bruce Ohr.

Each of those individuals has made statements critical of the president in the past.

Petty, vindictive & thin-skinned, as usual.

This is simply an attempt to damage his professional reputation in advance of him being a witness against Trump.

Couldn't be more obvious.

Security clearance matters are usually handled many levels below The Office of the President. MAGA!

Nice!

I'd like to see Clearances sunset for all types of government officials after they leave an operational post that required it. Clearances should not be a lifelong entitlement, there are risks of those keeping it (being compromised) plus they use it to leverage and be leveraged in commerce.

Okay! awaiting the usual Lefty fauxfended crowd on MSM to go crazy... :lamo

? They are not a lifelong entitlement.

? They are not a lifelong entitlement.

Of course they aren't. But those crying about the revocation of clearances like Brennan act like they think he is entitled to keep a clearance.

Fox News thinks this is abnormal as well. I agree to the clearance expiring upon leaving government. As to the bolded; well, you know where I’m going with that thought.

As I posted above for POTUS to be involved in a public revocation of a clearance is extraordinary; and petty doesn’t begin to describe this incident.

Brennan is a lying bag of excrement and should have had his security clearance revoked when he lied to Congress.

When we have former government officials acting in abnormal ways, it seems quite appropriate.

Trump is looking into LeBron James’ clearance status next........

Let this be a lesson to all who would criticize the God-Emperor, or doubt the word of His anointed spokespeople!

Cult of #45ers support a Criminally Insane Racist, Truly a Traitorous Coward in every Way Imaginable.

On morning Edition this was being discussed and it was said that when they leave their post the clearance becomes some sort of inactive. That allows it to be reactivated quickly in case a consult is needed or whatever the case. And regardless, a security clearance only allows you to know the things you need to know. Just because you have a top-secret clearance doesn't mean you can wander around the pentagon looking at whatever or wherever you want. There were times my submarine went places and the crew was not allowed to know where on earth we really were. (Usually places we were not supposed to be, I would guess) Besides, it all looks the same from the inside of a steel tube.

Trumps lies to congress and the American people every day.

Agreed! On the other hand, Trump is not under oath.

Those of the Cult of 45 should be Exiled to their True Dear Leader, Putin, and Russia, toot sweet.

Brings to mind a quote attributed to Ben Franklin, although it appears earlier:

“When the candles be out, all cats be grey.”- John Heywood 1546

It is nice to know the President doesn't have more important things to do with his time.

Your submarine, you must be speaking of what you float in the bath tub.

This kind of person is regularly consulted on matters of security/intelligence. Their opinion wouldn't be worth much without access.

It was for advisory purposes only. And we all know this administration's admiration for experts is lacking. So this isn't bad for Brennan. It is, however, really petty and sad.

I think they are more concerned with having a U.S. President who is so shamelessly petty that he pursued a personal act of obvious revenge. The fact of the matter is that had Brennan not been a vocal critic of Trump, Trump would not have cared about his soon-to-be naturally expired clearance.
