The Wall Street Journal, citing multiple people familiar with the investigation, reported Tuesday that federal prosecutors in New York are evaluating whether Cohen’s income from his taxi-medallion business was misreported in federal tax returns.

Prosecutors are also examining if any bank employees improperly allowed Cohen to receive loans without providing sufficient documentation.

Manafort, Gates, Cohen - they'd need just one more for contract bridge. No rush... There will be more coming soon. Don Jr?

Tax fraud? Shocker.

That guy has probably committed every crime by now but genocide.

This kind of stuff blows my mind. It’s

It’s not supposed to be something I intended to post.

Anyway, if true, Cohen and Manafort really need better accountants. If the fees they paid got this kind of result I’m seriously undercharging my clients.

Don't forget Wilbur. The best people.....................

No. I think Zinke with that corrupt microbrewery deal with Halliburton. That deal stinks of criminality. I posted about it yesterday.

I've wondered if the failure of his taxi medallion business was at the core of the case against Cohen.

Where are the Russian collusion charges against citizen Trump, The Trump presidential campaign committee or President Trump?
We have heard over and over about all the criminal Russian collision? Put up or shut up! Taxes charges and false statements to the FBI.
If Cohen lied about his taxes then it seems he is in trouble. Nothing to do with Trump!!

Yeah, that's it. Cohen and Manafort's problem is they needed better accountants.

Include a little corruption & I'll bet you could improve your standard of living. Tax accounting is like gambling. It pays off if you don't get caught.

You are in the numbers business, according to your posts. Don’t you require something more than a verbal statement from your clients. I presume there is a “code of ethics” in your line of work? Is there a contract you enter into when you get beyond basic tax preparation?

If you do it right you don’t have to worry about getting caught. These accountants let their clients run all over them. They seem to have been more interested in covering their own asses than they were about giving clients sound advice and professional services.

Yes in all counts. In particular, the stuff the woman from the Manafort case said made me want to puke. Allowing your client to put themselves in such a horrible position it beyond unethical.

-edit-
Let me expand on that. My clients will never be put in a position where they pay more than the legally owe. However, if I have reason to believe that they are committing fraud we will have a long talk that involves the phrase “part of my job is to keep you out of jail”. I will not put my name on anything I have reason to believe is fraudulent. Doing so might get me a nice fat check but it does so at the risk of my reputation, my credentials and my client’s best interests.

The results were fine.
Manafort and Gates directed their accountants to break the law. I suppose by charging so much, they were willing to accept a little law breaking for Trumps campaign team. I don't recommend you do the same.

The story is that after Manafort’s money spigot was cut off by the Ukrainian President hatting up, he began to get fraudulent loans to maintain the lifestyle he was used to. I realize that he was not counting on an early exit from the Trump team, but when is it a sound strategy to borrow to maintain a level of luxury rather than consolidate and sell off some assets? Lavish is an understatement.....

Yep i have known people that happened too. he ended up killing himself over it.
he got into some bad investment deals during the housing market crash and it went south
for him. the problem was that he has invested peoples money without them knowing.

he got into business with a guy i quit working for because he was running an unethical practice
and he talked people into investing in this guys company and we are talking a lot of money.

it ended up going bottoms up.

when it comes to finance upfront honest and ethical behavior is the only way. that goes with any business dealing.
it isn't worth the issue of when you get caught.

it isn't if you get caught it is when you get caught.
