Former President Barack Obama deserves more credit for the strong U.S. economy than President Trump, according to MSNBC's Joe Scarborough.

"Yeah, it's a strong economy," Scarborough told "Morning Joe" co-host Mika Brzezinski. "But Mika, this is not an economy that Donald Trump gave us. This is an economy that's part of the seven year ongoing recovery."

The economy & job growth follow a trend line started by Obama & continues to this day. Trump has done nothing but claim it was all his doing even though he has done nothing.

Generally speaking Presidents get too much credit for a good economy and too much blame for a bad one.

If the economy had been this good under Hillary, would Republicans and Conservatives on this board be giving her ANY credit at all, nah they wouldn't and they should be smart enough to admit that.

You should know, you need 200,000 people per month to stay with population growth. Or, 2.4 million per-year.

Scarborough is 100% correct. Trump inherited a strong economy. He now takes credit for it much like some idiot taking credit for the sun coming up this morning.

You make no sense.

Your avatar: are you a guy pretending to be a woman? Attractive pic but disconcerting.

He's wrong.... Obama inherited a economic trough... he started at a point where there was nowhere to go but up xD

It's was one of the slowest economic recoveries since the great depression. There is nothing to be proud about.

The markets work like a wave.... completely independent of a President.

Of the little things a President can do is create an environment of optimism about the economy....i.e. the Trump bump.

Most of the economic policies a president implements have little short term impact on the economy itself unless it affects optimism.

What is interesting is we are due for economic downturn, this is the second longest period of growth without a crash since US history. Close to being the longest.... I bet Trump tax cuts had a lot to do with it.... to extend the bump longer, or maybe, hopefully skip to the next cycle without a crash.

Joe Scarborough the wizard of our economy. A true blue Trump hater who has completely
lost any credibility a very long tome ago. Watch the show for 5 minutes and you will see what rubbish passes for TV today.
They have to try and discredit the Trump economy because the democrats know people vote with their pocket book.
Poor old Joe is trying to pacify Mika! :peace

America has a growing population, and because of that, you have to think of population increasing with the labor force. If only 140,000 people got a job in a single month, you have to account with the 200,000 people at the age to enter the work force.

With my avatar, it is one of the stock photos and I changed it after someone was making a attack on me having the same avatar as he has. It will be changed in a few days, but I see no problem with it.

He inherited a stagnant economy. In no way did Trump inherited a growing economy.

Just look at the stock market from the day trump was elected to today.

President Trump should take credit for job growth.

If anybody is "reelected", it will be Pence. It might not even be him either. Trump is going to be primaried out in 2020. Hopefully, his replacement will be sane.

...If not President Trump I will agree it will be VP Pence. President Trump may not be a popular choice but at the present time I will support him as President

Obama will never be given credit for the economic recovery simply because it was TOO slow even though Trump is riding on the waves like a happy surfer.. and I'm willing to bet that when this economy collapses Trump WILL blame Obama.

So if it is Obama's economy, tell me what he did to improve it?

Well of course not. This is about team politics, not who actually did something. Now, the Democrats and Trump haters won't give Trump credit, and the Trump supporters will. If Hillary had won and the economy was the same, the Republicans wouldn't give her credit, but the Democrats would.

This is probably the most predictable thing in politics.
