Back to the point: The bottom line is that Trump objects to these legal immigrants.

He is fighting hard to make sure there a great deal less of them.



For those who are already here, he and his administration are changing the rules of the game to make it harder for them to stay here.



He objects to these people.

The "we don't object to legal immigrants, just illegal ones" would be fine if it were true. But high profile rightwingers such as Ann Coulter and pseudo-rightwingers such as Trump have shown that it is false.

Again, can you provide support for that? I've seen nothing that indicates he wants to reduce the number of legal immigrants -- he's actually stated (or at least implied) the opposite.

We have more people wanting to move here than we have decided to allow each year. Moving to a system where we put greater weight on 'merit' rather than lottery doesn't change the quantity or 'mix' of legal immigrants.

By your comment about him moving to a different system you are tacitly acknowledging that he objects to our current system. Which he has made clear over and over. If you haven't seen it, it's because you don't want to have seen it. Start with his State of the Union address. Move to his highly publicized tirades about Haiti and the ****hole countries.

He objects to our current system. He objects to people that our current system has brought here. He wants to cut down the number of people coming from the countries that he doesn't like and wants more people from places like Norway, as if anything he could do would attract those people here.

He objects to our current system. (Everyone objects to our current system). That's different than saying we should reduce the numbers. Many people have advocated shifting to more of a merit based system. The lottery system makes little sense.

That is ONE of the categories of people that he objects to.

He lied about the hoops those people have to jump through to qualify to be here in order to justify his objection to them. The bottomline is that he objects to them and he is fighting to stop more of them from coming here, even if he has to unjustly malign them to try to drum up support for his position.


You will frame it out you wish to frame it. I'm not going to go around in circles on this. But he objects to several categories of immigrant who are here, he wants to stop more like them from coming here, and he wants to deny citizenship to many who are already here and on that path.

Both his words and the actions of his administration show this to be so. Defend it or not, it's still how it is -- Trump objects to these legal immigrants.

And yet, you are going in circles. Again, he proposed making a change from lottery based selection to merit based -- something advocated by many others. Not unique at all to Trump. That's not the same as pushing for a reduction in the number of legal immigrants. Do you have any basis for that, other than talking points pushed by the anti-Trump crowd?

Again -- if you want to be mad at him, be mad at him. He's made plenty of mistakes you can criticize. Just stick to what he's really said or done.

I never claimed he was pushing for a reduction in the number of legal immigrants.

I said that he strongly objected to certain categories of legal immigrants and was trying to decrease the chances off those people coming to the country.


You ignore what Trump has said and make up things about what I said. Great debate style there. Later.

lol. No, I'm asking you to tell me what Trump said to support your view. Something other than talking points about Norway, or 'certain categories' with no specifics. And you keep talking about him wanting to reduce the number of legal immigrants, when he's done nothing of the sort.
