Donald Trump And Michael Cohen Caught Discussing Karen McDougal Payment On Tape

This is Watergate??? Are you sure it isnt Kristallnacht?? Or 9/11?? Or Pearl Harbor?? #Unhingedliberals
And what is 'unfolding?' Seriously, you guys have lost your collective minds. Seriously, stop watching so much television.
Yawn was this the bulk news for CNN?

I see Republican talking points haven't been worked up and released yet. Could you let me know when you have something other than feigned disinterest in a thread you've clearly chosen to post in?

What we have here is confirmation of Trump and his attorney clearly discussing engaging in a felony (which we all realistically know happened). We also essentially have confirmation of the President repeatedly lying to America about his affairs and the payments he made to cover them up.

(Psst...this is the part where you say something about Clinton's e-mails)
Why do you choose to be ignorant of stuff that is happening?
I don't think Republican/Trump supporters have been told how to spin this yet. So right now they just feign disinterest in a thread they'll repeatedly post in.

Cuomo was trying to convince his viewers for the past few days that Cohen doesn't matter at all and that because Rudy said it made the President look good, the whole thing about the recording must be ignored immediately. He got ahead of himself there, didn't he?

And no--I don't care for people who carry water for the President and then whine about it costing invitations to cocktail parties.

But he gets snuffed at Martha Vineyard parties. Have you no heart?

It's like we're watching a modern, "Watergate" in real time. History is being made right in front of us - dark/horrible history, but history just the same.

Cohen and Trump then discuss financing to set up a company, and the audio recording becomes less clear.

Trump can be heard asking “What financing?” followed by the phrase “pay with cash.” The recording is not high-quality, and it is unclear what Trump says before “pay with cash.”

So...financing to set up a company "for the transfer of all of that info regarding our friend David". Cohen talks about financing and Trump says "pay with cash". There is no mention of paying for the story...with financing or with cash. The mention of money is for creating a company.

btw, I wonder how many people here understand...from a businessman's point of view...the difference between "financing" and "cash". It appears the HuffPo writer doesn't.

Cash is a subset of financing.
As is equity, debt, loan, bonds, money transfers, assets, etc.
Everyone knows that nobody can trace cash, which is why it's used for illegal actions.

Ok, so the tape is out! The problem I have is the Socialist Party formal the Democrat Party that are acting like they have something to go off. The question that I have is when the date of that conversation was? You honestly think that this will hurt the president? I hate to be the same laughing stock at every failure you guys tried to bring Trump down! This is a joke and unless the president decided to dig into the White House lawn to get rid of a staffer. I'll defend the president

One more thing that you noted the emails, I don't care anymore because every time we have a conversation about it. Nothing will happen because of the Clinton's has money to pay people off.

Stop watching the news, stop reading the "paper", no more Economist Magazines on flights...and quit DP (except maybe to follow your posts)....and, maybe I will be dumbed down enough to be a Trump voter in 2020.

Interesting that you call on someone to stop watching the news the same day Trump works the same theme into one of his self-promotion events. Then again, that is how a good cult works.

Meanwhile, with over 100 indictments already set forth and 5 convictions, including members in the senior staff of the Trump campaign, well, like a good HBO series marching toward the season finale, we are all wondering exactly who is going to be caught in Mueller's net. Pretty certain at least one of them will be named "Trump".

I don't know about you, but I have always been intrigued with these charts....

...and, I have always wondered how the Trump Organization has been able to survive when no American bank would deal with them...

...and, I don't know about you, but I have never seen target (or subject) of an investigation act so guilty. Just looking forward to the next episode of the Mueller Show to see how this comes together. I do have faith in the American justice system. The FBI gets its man.

 Oh, I know, but Cohen is the little fish in all this... except that he might have information on the Russian money train, and might know where some of those "train tracks" are located. Don't forget, Cohen is married to a Russian and has his own independent contacts in Russia. My guess is that Cohen might actually have testimony about Trump's state of mind and intent regarding the Trump Tower Don Jr.-Kremlin meeting, along with early knowledge about the Russian hacks and Wikileak releases, which by law should have been reported to the federal government. Now we're looking at "conspiring with a foreign power to interfere with a US election"... otherwise known as "collusion" on tv talk shows!

As for the pee tapes, Giuliani will tout them as proof of Trump's sexual prowess, Trump's fan base won't care any more than they care about him being a serial *****-grabber, and Melania will just forward them to her lawyer because once he's out of office, she's gonna leave his fat orange ass in the dust! Trump will, of course, simply squeak "FAKE NEWS" to his myriad cheering fans, lol.

If Cohen had that much on President Trump 1) it would have already been leaked and 2) they wouldn't have leaked this silly little recording that Cuomo played.

Before they can convict President Trump, they have to impeach him. Before they impeach him, they have to get the people on their side. Any real informatiin will be leaked and played ad nauseum.

You got a link for all that?

Sorry, but no 'talking points' are needed to rebut this latest round of liberal idiocy.

This tape is evidence of...nothing. The liberal reaction to it is evidence of ignorance, hatred and an advanced stage of TDS.

Everyone knows that nobody can trace cash, which is why it's used for illegal actions.

the act of providing money for a project
Example: The financing of the project was done by two international banks.

Ready money. For accounting purposes, cash includes money in hand, petty cash, bank account balance, customer checks, and marketable securities. It may also include the unutilized portion of an overdraft facility or line of credit.

So...for the purpose of setting up that company, which isn't illegal, Trump wanted to use "cash" instead of "financing". Unless you get Trump on tape talking about giving someone a briefcase full of $100 bills, it's more likely Trump was talking about writing a check...which is easily traced.

I'm sorry, but y'all have, once again, taken a big chomp out of a seemingly delicious...but ultimately unnourishing...nothingburger.

Honest question here sly, because I haven't been keeping up with the tabloid **** because I have enough of the tabloid **** in the normal political news now >.<

What is the felony being discussed here?

Felonies, like cheating on your spouse and being a known sleazeball, heck, they should have locked up Bubba and, most likely, most of our elected officials.

It's like we're watching a modern, "Watergate" in real time. History is being made right in front of us - dark/horrible history, but history just the same.

Now. I think it's time we talk about video and audio editing.

This HuffPo article presents an edited version of Cuomo's show...snippets from various parts of the show and parts of the tape, presumably because they contain the correct words.

The actual Cuomo presentation is quite a bit different, though he also edits the tape. At least, he tries to give a reason for his edit..."not relevant, in my estimation". But what's interesting to me is he ends the audio in mid-sentence...right after Trump says the word "check". Check what? Write a check? Why did Cuomo abruptly end the tape right there?

You know...this "not relevant, in my estimation" thing is just another example of dishonest media spin and fakery. It is akin to Cuomo telling the public “Also interesting is, remember, it’s illegal to possess these stolen documents. It’s different for the media. So everything you learn about this, you’re learning from us.”

Thanks for your concern, Chris...but I'll be the judge of what's relevant or not. Give me the whole damned tape and shut the **** up about what YOU think is relevant.

btw, you can see Cuomo's show here: https://www.cnn.com/2018/07/24/politics/michael-cohen-donald-trump-tape/index.html

Yeah, pretty sure that Sly wasn't going to make a reference to felonies without at least having a legitimate felony in mind, so I'll wait on his answer.

um, its called campaign hush money violation.

The only thing that tape proved is that Trump is a liar; that's hardly breaking news.

The problem with the Republican party since the 1960's, is and was a counter-culture. Trump, with his base: has turned that group as a counter-revolution movement. The Make America Great Again, is a counter-revolution ideology without a solid grounding from the top down to a basic understanding as what was great and lost. The reason for being a lie for everything, because it is for Trump and second, his Trump Administration.

I don't think you have ever read about Trump's policies during his campaign. In there, he clearly describes what he means by "Make America Great Again" and he does provide a solid grounding...from the top down...for what he intends to do to accomplish that goal. If you like, I can provide a link to his campaign website so you can get up to speed.

As far as this "counter-culture" stuff, are you saying the Republican Party was the counter culture in the 60's?

Wouldn’t “hush money” involve actually making a payment?

Trump has had business enemies for decades. I have no idea how many times he’s been sued but “a lot” is likely an understatement. He’s got ex-wives and ex-girlfriends. He’s got pissed off employees, pissed off neighbors and pissed off vendors. He’s pissed off local politicians, national politicians, international politicians and even the pope. He’s been dealing with this stuff for 40 years. He’s no rookie.

Right now he’s got the full force of the US government and all their investigative agencies rooting through his trash cans. He’s got most of the media investigating him with the express intent of taking him down. Yet, with all of that, nobody has come up with the proverbial smoking gun.

Not all the Republicans did during the 1960s. If you really study the Nixon Administration without Watergate, or the Vietnam and China. Nixon gave us wage and price controls, he organized for the new agency called the EPA. And gave us the silent majority, was the greater happiness for the greater amount of people. Read John Stuart Mill (1806-1873).

news flash, the payment was made.

Was it? I haven't read any stories showing that Trump or Cohen paid AMI. My understanding is that AMI paid McDougal but I have yet to see confirmation that they were subsequently compensated by Trump.

Chump change given out as hush money is not what has The Donald's fake hair standing on end; it's fronting the Trump Corporation to launder Russia money through his properties for a cut of the profit. That's the stuff Mueller is looking at, and that's the stuff that eventually will land Trump an indictment, either during his presidency or after. But it's coming to get him, and that scares the piss out of him.
It's not the dollar amount that matters. It's the associated crimes, which include felony campaign finance violations, bank fraud, mail and wire transfer fraud, etc.

In the words of Richard Nixon, "the people have a right to know whether their president is a crook." We already know. He is.
