CVS Employees Fired After Calling Cops On Black Woman Over A Coupon

It is a straw man, I'd advise you to learn the definition of such. Vague arguments and all. Shaking and calling the police CAN be racist. No one is saying they are either 100% racist, or 0% racist like your straw man arguments do, but there's certainly a chance for it to be racist which you clearly insinuate to be amusingly impossible. Racism is the context of actions and how that behavior differentiates along racial boundaries. When you treat a black woman with discontent, because you rather believe a legitimate coupon is illegitimate because of the color of her skin, you're racist. When you call the police on her not once, but twice and don't show the same reaction towards white people, you're racist. When you're so scared of an aging black woman, that you're shaking while calling the police, and snarling when mentioning to police that the woman is african-american, you're racist.

It seems that you're one of those people who think your racial biases aren't racist though. Which is the root of the problem in the first place. You don't get credit for just not enslaving people and making them drink at separate water fountains anymore.
The only one here making assumptions here is you. You are branding the employees as racist without evidence. Your filling in blanks with your own presumptions

So it's not rude for a manager to walk away from a customer when being asked his name and title?
Why is it being called a tantrum?
If you know your in the right so you not argue your point or do you just hang your head and walk away?
Man this is crazy.
I don't know if he behaved appropriately or not. I just think people are playing fast and loose with the racism accusations and they should be more sure about it before making such a serious accusation against somebody.

Okay but see I didn't say anything about racism. I think he should have been fired for not handling a customer complaint as a manager should.
The employee that called the manager I don't believe should have been fired he is just an employee and he did the right thing he called the manager when there was something he did not understand. The manager sounds like he shouldn't have been a manager.

Look for those of you that don't have to deal with racism every time you walk out the door....you will never understand that feeling of being treated less than.
I'm a black woman and I guess I throw a lot of "tantrums".
On the weekend before July 4th I was at the grocery store I was purchasing about $200 worth of lobsters. The gentleman behind me said loudly using that ebt card must be nice, wish I could by that much seafood.
I felt heat from inside, but I turned around and said bless your heart sweetheart...do you need some help buying your groceries my card gives me 5% cash back on groceries thus week?
He turned beet red and everyone laughed the point...what other reason than the color of my skin did he think I was using an ebt card?
Or
A few months back when I purchased a cart full of electronics for my business and store security told me they believed I was using a fraudulent card and could I show them id... I said no. They said they were calling the police. I said I would wait they wanted to escort me to some room. I said no I would wait right here at the door quietly but I refused to go into some room with 3 men. The police came and the officer that spoke with me, I asked him if he would escort me in the store to return everything I purchased and then I asked if I could press charges for unlawful detainment?
I showed both officers my id and I heard one of the officers tell the security guys if this keeps happening were going to start charging you to come out here.
What reason did they have other than my race for that call?

I do want to thank my white brothers and sisters for standing up to this crap seeing it for what is stepping in.
Like the store owner in New Hampshire that took a picture of a guy and banned him for telling me and my husband niggers get to the back of the line in my state.

And the muscle bound bald head guy covered in tattoos that stood up and helped us get out of hairy racial situation in the backwoods of Tennessee. We met him in January he and his wife are coming to visit us for labor day.

Again to those of you that get it, see it and stand up...Thank you.

Maybe somebody can clarify for me cause I'm not understanding this.

Employees and customer have dispute and employees call the cops. Why are they being fired for that. What are they supposed to do?

Scan the coupon and let the 'smart' cash register make the call. It's not as if they, or the police, must very the silly coupon.

^^^ This. ^^^

It's absolutely preposterous that a coupon can't be easily validated. Either this manager was an idiot, or the store has very bad policies.

Old ladies are pretty much their target customer. A lot of old ladies take coupons very seriously.

Implying an old lady is trying to pass a bad coupon (effectively calling them a thief) is guaranteed to produce angry old ladies.

Everything else flows from that mistake.

If the coupon had been bad, and she'd refused to leave, different story entirely.

Which is why I asked what the correct thing to do was and the only answer I have gotten is that they should of accepted a coupon they thought was fraudulent.

It was not fraudulent. They were wrong

This may surprise you, but in the real world, people get fired for making mistakes

There is no doubt that he was wrong

Making a mistake is a legitimate reason for termination

Depending on the state, but it seems that it is now expected that if a white employee offend a black customer, even if they are following company policy as in the case of Starbucks, the employee is terminated.
This is appeasement and sacrificial offerings in some cases.
Two wrongs don't make a right, further, the character assassination that immediately follows is de rigeuer.

CVS said they fired them for violating their discrimination policy

Even if they did....could it possibly because it was age/ gender discrimination? You know there are lots of discreminotry issues that have nothing to do with race....right?

Maybe

Looks like a wrongful termination suit. Where is the evidence of discrimination ? If I were that guy, I would lawyer up. CVS has deep pockets.

Store managers seem to be able to handle disputes over coupons daily without calling the cops. If there is any kind of threats or violence involved, then the proper response would be to call the police and the store cameras would back it up.

Yeah, if someone has a bad coupon, I just tell them we can't accept that and that's usually the end of it. Some people wanna complain or argue, but if you hold your ground, they usually give in.

This whole situation is weird. As a retail worker, I don't understand how you get to this point in a situation like this. At worst, she should just leave angry. Why would you call the cops?

According to the staff and other bystanders, she wouldn't leave. She was yelling at, filming, and following the manager. That was the problem.

Shh...don't ruin the narrative.
