"Rather than ... rolling out the red carpet, they should be focusing on challenging President Trump on his abysmal records on human rights, women and minorities."

MPs voiced concerns over the cost of president Donald Trump's visit this week and the extra strain it will put on the UK's already stretched police forces.

Extra police officers are being drafted in during the president's trip – which will include appointments in London, Blenheim Palace, Chequers, and Scotland – not only for Trump's security, but also at protests planned across the country during the visit.
============================================================
The president's visit to Scotland, home of his Trump International Golf Links resort, will alone cost the UK government £5 million and will require the work of 5,000 officers from Police Scotland.

A Scottish MP asked how the Government could support such an expense.

I suppose this is the cost of alliances so, maybe Great Britain could be reimbursed for a small portion of the cost by Russia & Putin; they could check with Trump first .......

Is there a forum rule about this?
I know some political forums limit the amount of threads a particular poster can start in a week. Obviously the limitations are a good idea because it keeps the thread topics from taking on too much of a biased tone.

Now back on topic and one I don't mind seeing this particular thread posted, however I don't agree with the original poster's comments ...

I say don't invite the POTUS if you're going to complain about the costs. What a bunch of grumps.

Sometimes rule making gets ridiculous....at some point folks need to be able to control themselves.

Yours is a valid point as well.

19/20 of the threads in this subforum are yours as of this post.

If an appeal to sense won't work, then how about an appeal to self-interest? Here it is: people generally won't open the threads or bother with comments.

These assholes dont have to like who we chose but if they were better they would honor the office absent whine, they would have no problem affording America's President Trump the customs that American Presidents have always been afforded. I think it is telling that the very same people who complain about Trump being a jerk, these people who go on and on about how horrible this is, have no problem being jerks themselves.

Kinda blows their argument, you know?

As for this argument that Trump is only here because of Russia, that the election was bogus, well where is the proof? We have been waiting a very long time for the proof, the charge was made and no case has ever been made to support the charges, which is injustice and incivility.

WE USED TO BE BETTER

Reminds me of when a university invited Ben Shapiro to speak but then had to cancel because the cost of security was growing way too high. So Ben said, "Ok guess that means your campus has no safespace for people of my kind" or something to that effect and the university QUICKLY said, "WHOOPS WELL PAY FOR EVERYTHING!" Then he got to have his free speech.

There's is no question that there was Russian interference with the election Trump won. Come back and complain when the investigation has lasted half as long as Benghazi.

pun intended

Re: These MPs Are Pissed Off With The Government About The Cost Of Trump's Visit

Theresa May has had a terrible week. Never the most secure PM, her leadership has been a long miserable tale of infighting, insolence, rearguard actions and sheer insurrection, and that's just her party! Someone pointed out tonight that if she turned to Trump at dinner and said: "Shut the **** up you horrible runt!" she could be the most popular person in the country.

Doesn't mean that Trump was involved in the interference.
Why not wait until the Mueller investigation concludes instead of writing your own ending?

Moderator's Warning:
How about everyone stop trying to play mod? There are people designated for that and no one in this thread (except me now) have that designation. Trying to play Moderator can be seen as trolling/baiting. Don't do it again. And yes, that includes those of you that asked "are you a mod?". That is the same thing.

Maybe she should have a big cake for Trump at the palace dinner tonight, and let Stormy jump out of it. I bet you'd like that, huh? ;)

Re: These MPs Are Pissed Off With The Government About The Cost Of Trump's Visit

Trump will be spending the night at the American Ambassador's residence beside Regent's Park. The night shift are prepared, with trumpets and vuvuzelas. I'g=d love to see his face when he gets up tomorrow and discovers the next door neighbour is Britain's biggest Mosque!

Re: These MPs Are Pissed Off With The Government About The Cost Of Trump's Visit

Yeah, this particular complaint is a petty one. The host country is responsible for the safety of visiting dignitaries, regardless of how popular or unpopular they are.

Sometimes rule making gets ridiculous....at some point folks need to be able to control themselves.

If you are referring to the rules of this biased crazy forum.

I've noticed this forum's rules only apply to liberals!

Conservatives don't have to follow the rules here- they get a pardon and a pass!

The Conservative contributors bait others in most every post, but that's OK- because they are protected by the holier-than-though Conservative Monitors who do the same thing!

But, if you are a liberal contributor here, do not even try to defend yourself when you are baited by someone else, or you will receive an immediate infraction!

I took the liberty of bolding the lies.
