OK. What do we do with those who we determine don't meet the criteria for asylum and are now considered illegal aliens?

Are we prepared to detain these people for eons before we can hear their case?

This is an older article but I can't imagine it's gotten much better.

This summer, the backlog of pending cases in the system passed half a million. It is the most that US immigration courts have ever faced. As of July 31, 502,976 immigration applications were waiting to be heard, according to the Justice Department’s Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR), which oversees federal immigration courts. The average wait time for an immigration court petitioner is currently two years.

First, no Trump Wall. That may be a separate discussion if you disagree but I don't support the idea of a Trump Wall. Probably the only thing that Jan Brewer said that I liked was "If you build 15 foot wall they'll build a 16 foot ladder", and you know they will.

Worker Visa program. I don't know how it should be set up but we need the workers and they need the work. That would help people on both sides.

I don't know how they can fast track the judicial end of it with immigration courts. There must surely be another way, a better way than what we've had. I read not too long ago that illegal border crossings were down and have been for a while.

If children come here with parents they should be housed and processed with parents. Most illegals are not criminals. You have known a number of illegals as have I. Yes, they are illegal but they are not for the most bad people. No good parent should be separated from their children. We must find the human way to house them and a faster way to process them until they are sent home.

I knew Senator Merkey was attempting to visit there, but hadn't been initially successful. Apparently they weren't allowed photos while there. But, I became aware of the visit, because someone posted a photo on facebook. What got me was a bunch of children sitting in what looked to me like dog kennels. Well, Merkley commented that the the detention compartments reminded him of dog kennels also.

I’m glad that his dog and pony show wasn’t wasted...I knew that lefties would be tripping over themselves talking about this. He called in advance and knew that he wouldn’t be given access...there are many reasons for that. Weird how this wasn’t an issue when Barry was potus.

I'm with you on the wall. There are better more cost effective ways for border enforcement.

I was in favor of Bush Jr's guest worker program proposal which got nowhere with congress. unsurprising.

I thought i read somewhere that we could quadruple the number of immigration judges and it would hardly make a dent.

I don't disagree, but I understand their argument that in no other instance do the children stay with their parents when they break the law resulting in incarceration.

I work with quite a few as a matter of fact. Some of them originally came here illegally. They're good workers and decent contributors to society.
