Yes. This is real life. This is hard-ball trade negotiations.

Do you have a problem with this?

No it's not. It's stupid Swampy negotiating tactics. It's how he negotiated 20% higher salary on The Apprentice. Except it often does not work in HIS favor and most certainly won't work in OURS.

Yes. It's idiotic.

These are businesses selling a legal product, and engaging in international trade. Are you against business?

Isn’t it conservatives who object to government picking winners and losers? I guess, until they are in power, then they pick coal over solar and try to ban German cars that are made in America.

No it isn't. It's isolationism and protectionism. What negotiation is this supposed to be supporting?

When did I explicitly state there was anything illegal going on? When did I even imply such a thing? Why are you raising strawmen?

This is nothing more than a tactic that Trump is using to influence negotiations. Heck, at this point it's only a THREAT. Nothing has actually happened.

Y'all should wait until Germany cannot ship anymore cars to the US before you start screaming, "THE SKY IS FALLING!!!"

Trump is engaged in negotiations with the EU to reduce their barriers to US trade with European countries.

Delay, distract, deny (Moscow rules)

The first thing you do, when Trump does something, is ask yourself if this is the Moscow rules at work. 9 times out of 10 the answer is going to be yes.

Really? What barriers? If you're referring to this,

those negotiations ended when Trump was elected. If they've started up again, I hadn't heard about it.

Trump hints at fight over $1 trillion trade with European Union

The Trump administration will impose steel and aluminum tariffs on imports from the European Union, according to The Wall Street Journal.

The tariffs come after talks between the EU and US failed to produce an alternative trade deal.

But you think that a punishment is in order?

It seems like he's erecting barriers.

All he's doing is driving a wedge between the US and our European allies.

I'd say your notion of "a wedge" is a matter of opinion.

I don't see tactics designed to improve my negotiating position to be a wedge. I see it as a tool.

You don't see anything Trump does as a negative. You are blind.

You don't think being put out of business in a lucrative market by government as a punishment?

If Benz thinks they'll be put out of business because their government won't negotiate trade deals with the US, perhaps they should talk to their government.

No. I don't see it as a punishment.
