President Trump's top trade adviser, Peter Navarro, recommended appointing Stefan Halper, an academic and suspected FBI informant on the Trump campaign, to a senior role in the Trump administration, Axios has learned.
Behind the scenes: During the presidential transition Navarro recommended Halper, among other people, for ambassador roles in Asia. A White House official said Halper visited the Eisenhower Executive Office Building last August for a meeting about China.

Well isn't that a trip.
Is this what's called dodging-a-bullet?

The reason Halper was allowed to get so close to members of the Trump campaign was because of his extensive knowledge of China and its economics.
One of Trump's main campaign points was trade with China.

I don't think Navarro knew in early 2017 what Halper was up to.

Yep; dodged a bullet ... and exposed a cheap-a** mole the Obama FBI hired. ;)

One might wonder why, after being specifically warned by the FBI that Russian agents would attempt to infiltrate their campaign, trump campaign officials continued to meet with Russian agents in secret anyway. If the FBI came to me and told me some of my friends were bank robbers, I wouldn't then go out and rob a bank.

Excuse me? Did Obama hire him too? On whose recommendation, Bush 1, Reagan channeling him from the grave?

Why was a confidential informant outed?

And what are you referring to when you say a bullet was dodged?

Halper is a Republican, served under Nixon FFs. Did work outside government for Republicans, served under Bush. Hell, he was accused in the 80s of having "spied on" Carter. He's a career guy, who was likely asked by our nations FBI to assist with a serious, ongoing criminal investigation. And he likely answered that call to duty.

GOP are some seriously unethical mother****ers, and that won't be dodged any time soon.

For payments made to Halper, see the following article:

"Less than a week after Stefan Halper was outed as the FBI informant who infiltrated the Trump campaign, public records reveal that the 73-year-old Oxford University professor and former U.S. government official was paid handsomely by the Obama administration starting in 2012 for various research projects.

A longtime CIA and FBI asset who once reportedly ran a spy-operation on the Jimmy Carter administration, Halper was enlisted by the FBI to spy on several Trump campaign aides during the 2016 U.S. election. Meanwhile, a search of public records reveals that between 2012 and 2018, Halper received a total of $1,058,161 from the Department of Defense.

Halper's contracts were funded through four annual awards paid directly out of the Pentagon's Office of Net Assessment (ONA). Established as the DoD's "internal think tank" in 1973 by Richard Nixon (whose administration Halper worked for), the ONA was run by foreign policy strategist Andrew Marshall from its inception until his 2015 retirement at the age of 93, after which he was succeeded by current director James H. Baker. ..."

So, in a nutshell, the USA is one totally ****ed up nation, where US spies do five or six tours of duty spilling the beans on whichever party pays the right amount. Or the Repubs and the Dems are just one party sharing the US government.

He was part of a plot to illegally spy on a presidential campaign. **** him.

That being said, you can thank the DSC's for exposing Halper.

Yes, Halper dodged a bullet. No decent person would want to be part of that corrupt administration.

I'm referring to hiring the guy who had already worked to penetrate the campaign of the guy who he would interview with, bringing him into his Administration and paying him.

yet harlper was a corrupt person that worked for another corrupt administration to spy on a presidential campaign.
your logic is a bit flawed in the fact that halper did work for a corrupt administration.

Orly? Which "corrupt administration" did he work for and spied on a presidential campaign? I didn't know George W. Bush's administration spied on someone's campaign.

then you are not paying attention to the thread.
please read the thread then get back to US.

It is evident that he worked for the obama administration to spy on the trump campaign.
that was pretty much spell out in the OP.

Why are you being obtuse?

i read the OP.
I read the thread.
now i'm getting back to YOU.

The OP doesn't mention which "corrupt administration" he worked for. other than mentioning that he worked for three republican administrations.

can you tell me which of those three republican administrations he worked for was corrupt and why it was corrupt?

obama wasn't a republican. why are you being obtuse?

If you don't know what we are talking about then you should probably read up on what is going on and be informed.
Halper was working as an FBI informant in the obama administration to spy on the trump campaign.

Do you think it is ok for that to occur?
if so why?

FBI informants are not part of the president's administration.

To educate you, your hero has made it easy for you to understand what a presidential administration is.

I'm actually embarrassed for you.

There is nothing illegal about the FBI or other intelligence organizations investigating contacts between Russian officials and any American. Russian officials are just people that you can not dance with without being noticed.

Thanks the good work of the Cons during the Bush years, the standard for obtaining wiretaps is very, very, very low. The cons should have thought twice about giving away civil liberties in exchange for a false sense of security, but.....

Again, Trump was stupid for surrounding himself with so many corrupt individuals with Russian connections. It would be a gross dereliction of duty if the FBI or other NSA organization was not investigating this to find, in the words of Trump, "....just what the hell is going on..." We needed to know if Trump was corrupt or just stupid.

So it's been established that Halper didn't do any paid work for the FBI.

Did the guy actually run a "spy-operation on the Jimmy Carter administration"?
Or did Halper just "reportedly" run one?

Trump reportedly had Russian hookers pee on his bed.
But did he though?

It is if they plant a spy without a warrant. It most certainly is if the spy was planted by the CIA.

Maybe I missed something.... was there a member of the inner circle of the Trump campaign reporting to the FBI? That is not the story that is out there.
Do you have a scoop none of the rest of us know about? Otherwise, there was no spy planted.

The FBI does not need a warrant to ask questions or even pay someone else to ask questions, particularly of Americans abroad.

You are carrying Trump's water. Trump and the folks over at Fox New laugh at how gullible their viewers are.

Surveillance requires a warrant. Spying on a presidential campaign is illegal.

You do not need a warrant to electronically surveil Americans in contact with Russian officials.

https://www.aclu.org/issues/nationa...rrantless-surveillance-under-section-702-fisa

(BTW, that is what makes the argument that FISA warrant of Carter Page was ill-got, moot)

nor, do you need a warrant to have meetings and ask questions.

They were not spying on a Presidential campaign. They were alarmed about Russia inserting itself into the US elections. If Trump did not want this to happen, he should not have surrounded himself with so many persons with Russian connections. The FBI had to determine if Trump were merely stupid or was at risk (or America was at risk).

A fine piece of legislation our conservative friends gave us, don't you think?

It has been established that Halper was the FBI "informant", who spied on the Trump campaign.
His payments came from the DOD - like stated in the article.

Or are you making the case that the DoD payrolls FBIs informants for them?

What exactly did the "spying" consist of again?
How cloak and daggery are we talking?
