The Republicans first funded opposition research but couldn't find anything on our beloved leader. Then the corrupt Clinton Klan picked it up and paid to have it falsified with salacious unverified material (according to Comey in his testimony). The unverified salacious dossier was then fraudulently used to obtain a FISA warrant in an attempt to commit a coup and overthrow a duly elected patriotic president.who dearly loves his country.

If I wasn't already convinced that your only purpose here was to troll the board with what may be the most ignorant posts we've seen in a while (and that's saying a lot), this thread, and particularly this post, convinced me.

Nothing in the dossier has been 100% disproven but much of it has been shown to be true. I know in Conservative circles it is Alice in Wonderland.....but excuse me if screwing a porn star and a playboy bunny is such a big leap from being with Russian Prostitutes. Please my naive Conservative friends....did not Trumps personal bodyguard testify that the Russians called him and offered to send them up to Trumps room and he declined.....and then he left the room and went to bed at 10pm..........Yes takes him away from the scene and allows him to not lie about the true events because he went to bed. Please next you say that Roy Moore is innocent and it is a hoax that he slept with underage teens........wait a second you did say that.....:lamo

What would you have had McCain do with the dossier?
Seems reasonable he would give it to the FBI.

At the time, Comey's hero act and the fact that he already had the dossier wasn't widely known.
It's certainly better than giving the dossier to the media, who already had it too but were looking for an excuse to run with it.
It is curious though, why McCain was chosen as the recipient, and in such an indirect manner, and by such people to help get the dossier into the public ken.


One other thing though ... the story at that Hill link stated "It started out as an opposition research document funded by the conservative website The Washington Free Beacon." ... Very misleading.

The republicans first funded opposition research on Trump.

The Clinton campaign and DNC picked up funding in the Spring after Trump was the nominee and funding from Republican sources dried up.

The dossier was used as supporting evidence to obtain a FISA warrant on parts of the Trump campaign.

Like I said, leave out the emotional language and just examine the facts. All of what I typed is true. Not all of what he typed was false, but a lot of it was subjective nonsense.
 
John McCain is a war hero, but that doesn't absolve him of any criticism of his public or private life after.

He's an anti-Trumper, so today he is the untouchable war hero while the anti-Trumpers on the Democrat side had a very different opinion is 2008.

McCain TODAY is a Jennifer Rubin style Republican who, to spite Trump, fights against a lot of things that he stood for before Trump. He voted for John Brennan to head the CIA while he says he would vote against Hasple for her stance of "enhanced interrogation"... ignoring in the process that at the time of the enhanced interrogation use Hasple reported to... John Brennan. He ran on repealing Obamacare, then cast the deciding vote to keep it.

He attacks Trump as a philanderer, which is true, and yet he walked out on his wife after she was critically injured in a car accident.

McCain is a flawed human being as we all are, but the sudden deification by anti-Trumpers is... unseemly.

It has long been assume that McCain was the source for the dossier for the FBI so his death bed confession is nothing new. I think somehow he thinks that will solidify his spot in Valhalla, while in reality it is just the end of a long fall.

Right. The GOP did fund the research initially... but the poster's contention that they "couldn't find anything" is FALSE.

Right. The Clinton campaign did pick up funding... but the poster's claim that they did so to have it "falsified with salacious unverified material" is FALSE.

Right. The dossier was used as supporting evidence for a FISA warrant.... but that was not the sole (or even primary) justification for it. AND it certainly was not part of a coup attempt. That's ludicrous.


The poster's CONCLUSIONS were all lies... not to be confused with "subjective nonsense" or "emotional language".

The DNC didn't even "pick up funding". They paid for a new project that Fusion GPS then hired Steele to complete.

The myth that the dossier was a continuation of a project started by the Washington Free Beacon is pure nonsense that Comey lies about to this day.
