Comey says he believes the source of the Steele ?dossier? to be 'credible' - ABC News

President Donald Trump has slammed the so-called “dossier” as fake, phony, dirty, horrible and a disgrace.

But former FBI Director James Comey said he believed from the outset that the British intelligence officer who wrote the report was a “credible source.”

More & more of the Steele dossier are being confirmed but the Right still keeps on pushing back. It could be the stake that ends the Trump presidency.

But the question isnt whether or not Steele is credible, its whether Steeles sources were credible.

What is he supposed to say? He used it for the FISA warrant and left out the inconvenient fact that it was supplied by the Clinton campaign.

So...a credible source pushing a salacious and unverified dossier.

And Comey...a seasoned professional lawman is okay with this? Sorry, doesn't generate much confidence in him.

Who cares.....the Steele report is no better that a tip that is called into the cops, after that comes the investigation, and if proof turns up maybe charges.

A year and a half in and no proof has been brought forwards, "But But But, the tipster is a good guy!" is irrelevant this late in the game.

If Comey thought that Steele was such a credible source why did he fire him?

Oh dear Jack, Comey is in hot water.

There is a reason all three heads of the investigations in Congress have demanded Rosenstein turn over Comey's un-redacted memos.

That's understandable considering the tangled web of foreign and domestic suspects and cover ups.

Steele had been in contact with the FBI right up until Buzzfeed published the dossier. The FBI were interested in Steele's research because they've worked with him before and they were already investigating several items mentioned in his memos.

Steele was an experienced MI6 secret agent with extensive contacts behind the former Iron Curtain.

Comey didn't fire Steele. Steele worked for Fusion GPS, not Comey, and he not only never knew who hired Fusion, it was Steele who went to the FBI when he discovered lillegal activity.

You're not making any sense in this post, dear Vesper.

Please provide link where Comey 'fired' Steele. Steele did not work for Comey, so what you are asserting makes no sense.

And as far as those Trump memos go,

I can't answer for either Rosenstein or Comey. So you will have to ask them.

Comey is not in hot water. Comey is going to get even with the guy who obstructed justice by first telling him to drop the Flynninvestigation & then firing him for not complying.

Obstruction of justice is defined in the omnibus clause of 18 U.S.C. § 1503, which provides that "whoever . . . . corruptly or by threats or force, or by any threatening letter or communication, influences, obstructs, or impedes, or endeavors to influence, obstruct, or impede, the due administration of justice, shall be (guilty of an offense)."

Yet, in 2017 Comey said the dossier was unverified.

Actually, the FBI's interest in the dossier was limited to whether they could use it...unverified...for the FISA application on Carter Page, which they did.
