Donald Trump says Syria attack could be soon or 'not so soon at all'

Sorry, he's just backpedaling from the previous Tweet that did exactly the opposite of what you recommended -- announced an attack with "new smart missiles." Clearly, some general said, "<face smack>, you can't warn Syria and Putin of an attack." Too late:

All this is further evidence of how unfit he is for the office that he holds.

I know. 'But her emails...'

Backpedaling, going back and forth, saying yes, then no, is keeping them guessing. It is what he promised to do. If you were Assad, would you know what to expect?
Oh, and don't bring up the Emails. That's off topic.

Did you forget that trump promised a response within 24-48 hours, and now says that he never said that. Now only is he a liar, but a coward. Like President Obama he drew his red line in the sand and does nothing.

Both left the door wide open. Right?

In that case ... you got Trump's response today. :)

Or, what sort of response were you expecting?

Trump's response... to himself? Please clarify.

What would you like Trump (or any other president) to do, initiate a shooting war in which thousands will be killed, hundreds of thousands made more miserable?

How would deposing Assad be in any way beneficial to the US?

Attacking Syria based on flawed intel.(1) would only benefit Israel's hard line expansionists who seek Regional Hegemony & have been using the US to fight wars for Israel:

“QUIETLY LOBBYING CONGRESS TO APPROVE THE USE OF FORCE IN IRAQ WAS ONE OF AIPAC’S SUCCESSES OVER THE PAST YEAR.”
AIPAC Executive Director Howard Kohr; N.Y. Sun, Jan. 2003

America has enough problems at home that demand our energy and resources without going half-way around the world to do the work of grasping & murderous Zionist extremists.

(1) "WHERE’S THE EVIDENCE ASSAD USED SARIN GAS ON HIS PEOPLE?"
Where?s the Evidence Assad Used Sarin Gas On His People?
EXCERPT "Secretary of Defense James Mattis made it very clear recently that “aid groups and others” had provided the U.S. with evidence that was insufficient to conclude that President Bashar Assad had recently used the chemical weapon Sarin against Syrian civilians. In other words, the Pentagon does not believe what has been presented to it as evidence, chiefly because of the dubious provenance of the providers.
The importance of the evidence source is critical in Syria because the jihadis arrayed against Assad ascribe to a doctrine of deception called taqiyya. Taqiyya fully supports and condones behavior such as chemical weapons “false flags” to gain advantage against infidel enemies on the ground."CONTINUED

He will if he's smart. It's a move intended to reduce civilian casualties.

That's what Obama did:

You almost sound as if you'd like to see a lot of innocent people die.

Is that what you want?

Trump’s actions are 100% contrary to his making various campaign speeches and tweets in which he criticized Obama for disclosing too much information about American military strategies or plans in various regions where America was directly or indirectly involved in military actions.

There’s an old saying: Loose lips sinks ships. Trump is impulsive and is so narcissistic that he ignores our military leaders. He’s a complete numbnut when it comes to military operations. His kind of ignorance and impulsive temper is way more likely to get people killed unnecessarily.

Now you're backpedaling -- or more plainly, bending over backwards to defend the indefensible. Trump told the world that they're planning a missile attack. In response, Russia moved their planes to safe locations. Trump already showed his cards and one can't unshow them. Russia already moved their assets. The element of surprise is gone.

Why did Trump make this threat in the first place. He drew a red line and then ran away.

What a pathetic jerk Trump is treating a potential Russian-American war confrontation like it is nothing as long as he does not have to fight. He need to go now!!

"Now, or not all"? Hell, that leave the haters with nothing to whine about. :lamo

I really wish I could answer the question you and millions of other people are asking but only heaven knows what goes on in Trump's mind.

I suspect that he was in an especially bellicose mood at the time & just Tweeted off whatever was on the top of his head. I am enormously grateful to the person or people who were instrumental who calmed him down and possibly averted a WW3.

The US has absolutely no reason to help the Right Wing Israelis in their quest for a regime change in Syria especially since there is no credible evidence that Assad used gas on his own people.

Can anybody tell me why thousands of valuable American G.I.s are scattered throughout the region risking their lives & engendering ill will among the native Muslim residents? How many future generations of Americans will spend and/or lose their lives as foreign occupiers in the Mid East & Central Asia?

Keeps the enemy guessing. That is not a bad thing, unless you prefer we give them time and place, so they can run and hide behind women and children.

Kind of like when Trump warned Russia he was going strike the Syrian airfield where the aircraft carrying out chemical attacks were based? Which, of course, Russia shared with Syria, who promptly prepared for it, and once the attack happened, had the airfield back in operation within a day or so.

Why can't Trump just keep his mouth, and his twitter fingers, silent about this stuff. Between his boasting and then his "what about me" whining it's hard for anyone to take his seriously about anything.

Questions that have been asked since the day American forces crossed the border into Iraq and never left. Our government needs those troops in the middle east and central asia to continue recycling the conflict narrative that justifies our obscene addiction to defense spending.
