Michelle Obama says Barack was like the 'good parent,' calls Trump the 'other parent'

The parenting comment is interesting. To be honest, I've always like Michelle, although her husband was not my favorite President that ever held the office.

Barrack got pushed around and he sometimes wavered like a willow in the wind, plus his spread-the-wealth ideas left a lot to desire, but he was the President and I still respect the office of the presidency, so I'm not going to trash him.

What concerns me today is how virulent the Left has become in its attacks on our current President. There's virtually no respect left for the office, and what I don't think they understand, is that the lack of respect won't return once a democratic President wins. What they do now, they do to themselves in the future. Pandora's Box is open.

It appears you've just awoken from a years long nap, and didn't live through the Obama years, and apparently cannot see video or audio or even the Twitter feed of the current POTUS. It's hard to believe you're attempting a serious point when you figuratively pretend none of that happened or happens daily when it comes to the current occupant.

It's unprecedented for a former FLOTUS of the U.S. to be taking digs at a sitting president.
She's just another sore loser afflicted with terminal TDS.

Could be worse....she could be taking digs at trumps foreign born trophy wife

That is true -- we'll never make it back to sanity, I fear.

But, the rhetoric and hatred has escalated so much since Trump was elected.

Yeah, that's so shocking what with Trump and his minions screaming "LOCK HER UP!!!" about Clinton as he traveled from city to city. Damn liberals!!!

Just don't be so surprised when what goes around comes around and the next democratic president is in the White House.

My point is the "what goes around comes around" is what you're seeing. Why do you think a man who craps on the office of the Presidency on a daily basis will get treated with respect when he shows zero respect for the office or the American public?

And I don't know how you can have lived through the Obama years, including the birther nonsense spread by the current POTUS, and wonder about the declining respect for the Presidency as an office or an institution? Does your TV not turn to Fox News, the radio not turn to Rush or Levin or Hannity or a dozen other flame throwers who made a career out of trashing Obama, starting before he occupied the WH?

The birther stuff was nonsense, but the vitriol today is much, much higher. We've actually had Hollyweirdos call for the death of the President. It's out of control. It's beyond the pale.

And, it will come around.

Yeah, that's a sad story, bro.

It's only higher if you are on the receiving end. I dislike the "my side has it worse than your side" argument when in both cases depending on the side you are on it is/was bad and generally undeserved or uncalled for. However, on a personal level, Trump makes it too easy for the daily doses of satire, scorn, and vitriol primarily due to the fact you can't garner respect from others if you fail to be respectful yourself. Regardless of what any of us think of the previous presidents and their policies, they each brought a degree of respect for the WH and our country that is sorely lacking from Trump. Whether this is due to his inexperience or the pathological lying is doesn't take away from the fact that he himself is disrespectful on many levels. One doesn't command respect - one earns it!

You're a little bit wrong about that. I agree that the stories we read about Trump indicate he lacks decorum, but Lyndon Johnson used to take his penis out in front of his advisors and wag it around.

The big difference is that the Press covered for Johnson, and for previous presidents and their spouses who did odd things. So it's more the "perception" of integrity than true integrity.

I would never characterized this dude as a ideal parent. Not the way he has done to our country.
michelle " carli b " obama missed the bus on this one bah rump.

C'mon, this is a part of Michelle's, "When they go low, we go high..." and I think she actually did. But was it coke, opioids, what? One is forced to wonder.

Thats for Kimmel on FLOTUS.

I wonder how Michelle would have reacted if Laura Bush had criticized her husband in that way.

No President should be an extreme, but find middle ground that works for as many of our citizens as possible. Both sides.

Didn't you know it is racist to question anything about obama and what he does or what he says.

If the next Democratic President has as much contempt for the rule of law and democratic principles as this one, then it's your duty as a citizen to ride him as hard as possible. But criticize the next Democratic President with honesty. No more of that tan suit or feet-on-the desk crap.

She's stupid. That makes no ****ing sense.
At.
All.

This is a type of comment that reflects how the left views the presidency: A parent while viewing the voters as children. Obama very much acted like a presidential parent, an imperial President. Barack's was basically a helicopter parent.

Wow, she sees him as a parental figure. That's pretty horrific. I'm glad we have the guy who lies at Mach 8, is under investigation for obstruction of justice, collusion with a foreign foe and financial crimes, cheats people in scams, doesn't pay his employees, and is an open white supremacist.

Having the parental figure guy would just be awful.

I don't find much difference since the Obama years. I agree, there is no easy road back to sanity.

What "integrity" does Trump have? Can a man that lies everyday have integrity? Can a man that uses his office to promote his family business have integrity?

Not sure where you get this "perception" theory.

I agree criticism should be constructive, and there's nothing wrong with honest criticism. But, the stuff we're seeing today, and saw to a lesser degree with both Obama and GWB, is just off-the-wall lunacy. We have posters here who have distorted presidential images to create insulting caricatures and the insults we hear are true insults -- nothing constructive whatsoever. Trump is certainly not the first president this has happened to -- but it's far worse now than it has been. It's slipped into the realm of destructive bullying. I just don't know how anyone can be proud when they take part in that.
