Pruitt ‘dumbfounded’ that renting condo linked to top lobbyist is controversial

First, I'd like to read the guideline that says that it's ok for an employee of the EPA to accept a gift (extraordinarily low rent) and then that same employee makes decisions that the landlord lobbied the EPA to pass.

There is always the objective to not only have no improper behavior but avoid the appearance of impropriety. This walks all over that and maybe the first too.

Second, this isn't the first time Pruitt skated ethical norms. He was sanctioned for abusing private jet usage when he used government planes for private trips.

I'd like to see Pruitt fired because he views his job as protecting industry from the EPA, bending over backwards allowing corporations to poison the air and water, which will result in illnesses and deaths of Americans. However, if his ethical lapses get him fired, that serves my needs just as well.

Then I suggest you go after him for something that actually matters.

Please try and not deflect-

These guidelines didn't come to us by Moses... the ruling came AFTER the story broke and was done by Pruitt's EMPLOYEE!!!!

News update- now that the poop has hit the fan ABC is reporting the employee now claims they didn't have 'all the facts'...

NO independent oversight committee or auditor. His own people claimed it met the guidelines AFTER the fact...

And just how much Kool-Aid must you drink to think getting a condo for 66% (OFF) the going rate from a lobbyist's wife is within any guideline...

But don't deflect- did you agree with Obama's DOJ not seeking any punishment for Hillary over emails?????
You are still beating the same dead horse. You know that right?

Seems to me that the horse is alive, well, and kicking -- and may kick Pruitt out of his job.

The idea that accepting near-free housing from a lobbyist and then ruling in a way that helped the lobbyist's client, is all proper should rattle any thinking person's sensibilities. Moreover, "While traveling to Morocco last year, Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt promoted an issue that could benefit his past energy industry donors -- and also clients of the lobbying firm tied to his controversial Capitol Hill condo deal, several Democratic lawmakers told ABC News."

Pruitt isn't the Commerce Secretary and had no legitimate business making this trip, which cost taxpayers $40,000. He flew halfway around the world to lobby a country to buy natural gas from the same client that he was receiving $50 a night rent.

If this doesn't seem fishy, even to the Trump cult, nothing will.

I thought "draining the swamp" matters? Oh, I guess that only counts against Democratic administrations.

I don't recall saying this wasn't fishy.

People would be better served actually going after the man on issues that matter.

Historically, yes. Then gain they hit their stride a long time ago.

Notice the vast difference in the quality of our product.

Run along now....

I’ve noticed the lack of quality in your comments that’s for sure. I’m sure though with your “Eastern Training” you should be putting out better quality posts. :lamo

What did the wife of the lobbyist look like? Was she living there with Pruitt? Maybe there was legitimate hanky panky we can plaster over the news.

I can only imagine what you would write if Obama’s EPA head was staying in the home of the Sierra Club President for $50 a night and then ruled favorably on rules the Sierra Club promoted.

The article makes no mention of an “Ethics Committee.” It merely said “The EPA said that the agreement met the agency's ethics guidelines.” Gee, the EPA backs the guy who heads the EPA. In my best Jim Nabors voice, surprise, surprise, surprise.

I guess you misread the article.

whataboutis whataboutism whataboutism.

Nope. i didn't. read the article. the agreement met the standards it is right there in black and white.

Yeah, what a joke, my god the dishonesty and/or idiocy of people is astounding. What next, a committee of all republican's claiming it didn't violate anything, just like their joke of a committee that said Trump didn't collude.

I don't think an Obamabot EPA administrator would even need a special deal rule in favor the Sierra Club.

You are still beating the same dead horse. You know that right?

It ain't dead by any means, the story gets curiouser and curiouser as the days go by... :2wave:

Oh it ain't a horse, it's our state's former AG petty robber baron...

But to use the horse thing- I can lead a rabid right horse to water but I can't make them think... ;)

But do answer the question- do you buy the DOJ's finding that Hillary didn't deserve punishment for how her used her email account???

Somehow I doubt it... :peace

I think renting a condo from a lobbyist at well below the going rate (you can't get an AirB'nB for anywhere close to it) is accepted as illegitimate hanky panky outside the Trump Kleptocracy

None of this was a surprise to liberals during the campaign. We knew that Trump’s claim about bringing ethical standards and hiring the “best people” was just a sales pitch. The people appointed are the most corrupt ever brought into the White House while also the most antagonistic to the departments that they are supposed to be running.

Most of us saw the man was selling snake oil a year ago. The master of projection spoke of the corruption and lies of his opponent while he was guilty ten-fold. Unfortunately, too many bought the snake oil. That is all we have now: good for nothing snake oil.

Then I suggest you go after him for something that actually matters.

Corruption matters. It especially matters when you campaigned on draining the swamp. Each day that the POTUS lets this guy remain in office is a day that the POTUS displays his hypocrisy. No surprise there. I knew he was a snake oil salesman decades ago.

Seeing as its all done with, I don't see how me accepting the call (which for posterity I didn't) has any bearing.

This is just more of the same that we have seen in the past few months.

But your whataboutism is still somewhat entertaining, despite the personal insult. Even though I don't really transcribe to the right. (more of a centrist if I am to be honest) but this really don't have any impact on the issue at hand.

We have seen plenty of straw grabbing in the past and even if they get close to something. They will most likely overstay their welcome and end up screwing themselves out of their prize all over again. Seems to be a trend as it is anyway.

(Also) Just so you know, animals don't have any definable political lean and if you honestly believe they do. I suggest you find help for that condition as soon as possible.

Just so you know. We have no way of defining a horses political lean. However the slight insult is very revealing of your character. So thanks for that and I find your use of emojis rather atrocious if I am to be so blunt.

I have no standing issue with the decision, though I did not like it when the decision came down the chain. Despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary. Its now an issue that is in the past and I have moved on, as many of us already have.

Most of us however, are just tired of the rabid straw grabbing that we can see and any victory they come close to getting. Is most likely going to be ruined by their own actions. So they can go after Barron all they want, despite the fact that it will most likely not get them any closer to their desired target.

It's called a metaphor- you might want to look that word up... :doh

It's not all over and done with, it is just beginning... you have an odd right wing outlook on this- if someone embezzled thousands of dollars, and either fired, demoted or harassed anyone who attempted to stop the crime you'd be fine with it because the money is gone so that's that and the thief's underling declared it ok...

He is now accused of going after employees who tried to voice an objection, and paid off cronies using an EPA program- he denies knowing about it (others claim otherwise) so either he is lying or out of touch with how the people's money is lavished about the DC swamp.

But this isn't over by any stretch of the wishful thinking of rabid right.

(FYI I've found that when someone says 'if I am to be honest' they generally aren't being anything close to honest) :peace

http://thehill.com/policy/energy-en...-that-renting-condo-linked-to-top-lobbyist-is

Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Scott Pruitt said that he was “dumbfounded” that people found his decision to rent a condo co-owned by the wife of a top energy lobbyist to be controversial.

“I’m dumbfounded that that’s controversial,” Pruitt told the Washington Examiner about the rental agreement.

Pruitt has faced criticism over the deal to rent the condo for $50 a night last year. The EPA said that the agreement met the agency's ethics guidelines.
====================================================
This guy is a con man. He personifies the swamp that Trump described draining.

Pruitt is that kind of special idiot who is dumbfounded by quite a lot in life.
