As a Catholic who just celebrated Easter mass on Easter Sunday, after 40 days of Lenten reflection, intentions and fasting, capped off by Holy Week, which is indeed most solemn, I fully understand Ingraham's meaning and feel it to be rather insulting to her and all Christians who celebrate to even imply that she used our Lord's Passion and suffering, which culminated in his rising on the third day, after he died on a cross for our sins, to be a wee bit sacrilege.
I understand Ingraham's faith, which she professes freely and boldly.
I don't get the sense that you do, because if you did, you understand the grave sin you are accusing her of.
I do not believe for one minute that Ingraham hid behind her faith in our Lord, Jesus Christ, to offer a facile and insincere apology which she did not mean and further, said with derision. I do believe you are using her faith as a cudgel to further impugn her motives.
