John Dowd?s resignation sets Trump up for trouble in Mueller probe | TheHill

John Dowd’s resignation as personal counsel to President Donald Trump sent shivers across Capitol Hill today. The reaction was not necessarily due to faith in Dowd but, rather, fear of the unknown. Dowd was known as someone who favored a cooperative posture toward special counsel Robert Mueller (though he was reportedly leery of Trump sitting down for an interview).

The combination of Dowd’s resignation and the addition of attorney Joseph E. diGenova is taken as a sign of a more confrontational, combative approach by Trump. If true, things could get demonstrably worse for the president. The greatest danger of a scorched-earth approach is when you are standing on that earth at the time.

I think the President needs someone a little more aggressive as he enters the adversarial process. Probably a good move for him...

No, it will lead to his downfall. DiGenova has a long history of sheer stupidity. This guy is the absolute worst lawyer Trump could have possibly chosen to steer him though the Mueller investigation.

I expect that Trump will be indicted. He's been a bad boy for a long time, and the truth will out soon.

I could be wrong, who knows, but this is my gut feeling.

The Mule will wind down his witch hunt...no witches yano.

Besides, the second Special Counsel is coming soon and the Muel will be busy lawyering up. He is no good guy, neither was Comey, McCabe, Strzok, Rosenstein. Ohr, et al. The real non stellar past of all these guys is coming back and will haunt them. DiGenova knows where a lotta the Washington bodies are buried, knows his way around the DC land mines, will play offense and put the crooks back ln their hind legs.

Everybody are onto these folks now.

So how will the Supreme Court vote when Mueller issues his subpoena to Trump and he fights it?

Will they uphold the rule of law as the Court did with Nixon during Watergate, or will the Court be the second branch of government to roll over and ask Trump to rub their tummy and lick his hand in thanks?

criminal negligence at least.

 This is more wishful thinking on your part. diGenova was a good choice for Trump to add to his legal team. You don't show up to a knife fight with a spoons.

diGenova is certifiably insane corrupted by extremist politics - he will only make matters worse.

Extra Extra.... read all about it... the Clown Show that never ends! Marvel at President Chump's sheer genius! Replace John Dowd with Joseph diGenova... and poof, the Russian Collusion problem solved!

Thank you President Chump for your Marvelous Entertainment!

Nice. Proof positive you haven t a clue. When it comes to this topic, no Sherlock Holmes appear on your side in a the list of characters in this passion play. :lamo

It does get complicated, no doubt. Especially for those already in the habit of closing their eyes, sticking fingers in ears, doing the lalala lalalalala trick.

You think it an accident that Comey and Strzok changed the language from what was pointing to out and out breakage of numerous, specific, federal statutes alchemisticly converted (a see thru veil), nakedly using non utilized statutory language meaning the exact same thing...but slipping out of the criminal referrals for prosecution? no leaving it to a grand jury? Comey taking the responsibility upon himself to simply let Hillary off the hook. Then you have Comey, McCabe, Rosenstein, Yates, and others who knowingly used a fake document generated by an opposing political party to spy on the Candidate and team.

Thats a treasonous cabal, bro. But that you cannot see that is a bit comical. At least Inspector Jacques Clouseau accidentally eventually got it right.

Besides, thats just the tip of a blackened iceberg. Page, Ohr, Steele, Fusion GPS, Rice, Powers, Clapper, Brennan, Lynch, Holder, Hillary and slenderman all slithering like a school of venomous snakes under all the dubious rocks in DC. That you cannot even open your eyes, wont even squint to see the faint outlines says something about your desire to be sighted, but even more about any lucidity of judgement regarding true justice.

A visual of how badly off beam is your scale of "blindfolded" justice, were lady justice to take a peek of the weight of wrongs committed by team Trump compared with team Hillary... imagine Ivanka and Melania on one side of a see saw , Hillary and Lynch on the other.

Bam, it slams down on the unpleasantly plump, salt and pepper cankles side.

If Team Trump had even a sliver of actual provable evidence against as being such a pack of deep traitors to the nation as these scoundrels, I would be on your side. Truth of the matter, unfortunately, except for on the actual relative merits of the case against the traltors described above, after Trump and the and "Republicans" betrayed, completely sold us out on the Omibus spending bill yesterday, I could not care less about the coming, assured impeacment of the Donald on these Trumped up charges... The House will now almost assuredly switch majotities.

So, seems our second Civil War IS pretty much inevitable. Too bad our institutions have, again, proven not up to the task. When the democratic process becomes utterly subverted and the people of good faith see no alternative to enforced slavery to a system to which they in no way agree, to protect their children and posterity, when there is little left to lose, the coming bloodshed is near inevitable.

I still will advocate for a Gandhi styled Civil War. Refusal by Constitutional minded conservative states to, as the leftist sanctuary cities and state have done, simply refuse to further comply with all bogus Federal laws...of which there are far far too many.

Its sad it has to come to this.

Good advice for the Trump team:

I am waiting for him to be exonerated. No collusion. No conspiracy. What could possibly go wrong?

You should rephrase that "refuse to see".

You lefties have been saying that from day one and that was over a year ago. And yet no collusion, no nothing. :doh

It's not certain that even Di Genova is joining Trump's defense.

Veteran Washington attorney Joseph diGenova's role as part of President Donald Trump's legal team is still in question, according to two sources familiar with the matter.

DiGenova's hiring was announced on Monday by Jay Sekulow, counsel to the President. DiGenova, along with his wife and law partner, Victoria Toensing, had a Thursday meeting with the President, the sources said. Even so, diGenova's role, as well as that of Toensing who is also in discussions about joining the team, are in flux. One source said no one has been officially hired.

The Thursday meeting was the first time the husband-and-wife legal team met with the President since the Monday announcement. One source said that while Trump liked their message, the President is not convinced they are right for the legal jobs.ard to imagine anybody stupid enough to take trump for a client.

Trump is waiting for a ruling on his request to exhume Roy Cohn, before hiring Tony Soprano.

It's baffling that anyone would want to represent a client that rejects legal advice, is unable to control what he says and adds avoidable legal jeopardy to resume.
