World War 3 THREAT: China WILL fight 'bloody' WAR if Taiwan becomes 'independent'

https://www.express.co.uk/news/worl...-taiwan-president-xi-donald-trump-news-latest

CHINA’S president Xi has made a terrifying threat that he is will to start World War 3 if anyone attempts to “split” the country during a nationalist speech on Tuesday, it has been reported.

The Chinese despot said his country is ready to fight “the bloody battle” to regain its rightful place in the world as he capped off an address at an annual session of the National People's Congress which paved the way for him to be president for life.

Just days after President Donald Trump signed new rules to allow top-level US officials to travel to Taiwan, Xi said Beijing would defend is "one China principle”, which sees Taiwan as a territory ready for reunification.
=================================================================
Days after becoming president for life, Xi stated that he would defend every bit of China, which implies Taiwan as well. With Donald Trump moving to strengthen U.S. ties with Taiwan, the issue of Taiwan & the South China Sea have become the latest flash point that could trigger a massive nuclear exchange between China & the U.S.

China has always threatened that. But how much real control they have over the country remains to be seen.

This guy Xi is feeling his oats now that he is president for life. They have built up their claim to Taiwan & the South China sea for years. It's anyone's guess as to what will happen now that Trump has signed this new law about Taiwan. The Chinese may respond.

China seems to be challenging longstanding understandings in that neck of the woods. Perhaps its not a bad idea for the USA to follow that lead.

And do what exactly? Home port a nuclear aircraft carrier battle group in Taiwan?

What "massive nuclear exchange?"

China has about 65 ICBMs and perhaps another 24 SLBMs.

Each ICBM has a single warhead. It's possible some may have MRVs, but no MIRVs or MARVs.

That's hardly first-strike capable.

Pretty soon, Iran will be demanding the same thing of Israel.

Iran doesn't have a nuclear weapons program.

I fully support standing with Taiwan, it’s freedom from tyrannical China and it’s hopefully one day independence.

If China ever took Taiwan back, they would have the same arrangement that Hong Kong does. The greater economic integration with mainland China would be a net positive for Taiwan. I am not saying I support this happening, but it would hardly be catastrophic for them and certainly not worth going to war over.

I do not ever see Taiwan giving up its sovereignty willingly which means there’s a pretty good chance it’ll be done by force should it ever be reintegrated.

If Taiwan pursues a policy of peaceful reintegration, well that’s there decision but I doubt that’ll happen anytime soon, if ever.

There are going to be take over moves so the ground is shifting. Our idiot Trump is absolutely unprepared and that's what the movers are counting on. Saudi Arabia is now taking on foreign investment, which is why women can drive now: got to be politically correct to attract money: the Saudi oil supply is beginning to thin, so they won't have as much juice after a time, which is why I thing Putin wants the Ukraine.

In 2006 we estimated they had 100 nuclear warheads but that estimate could be as high as 2,000. And they have the miniaturized W88 H-bomb design captured via espionage. Each W88 is 475 kT, which is about 30 times bigger than the Hiroshima bomb. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/W88.

Sooner or later the world will be dealing with China's aggressiveness.

Do we do it now or later when it is much stronger?

We are never going to go to war with China. Our economies are far too interdependent, and China while it is a rising global economic power, has never had territorial ambitions beyond what they have considered to be their traditional sphere of influence. For example, the disputed areas in the South China Sea have been disputed since the founding of modern China. China has considered Tibet part of China for hundreds of years, the same is true for Xinyiang. China has never been a country interested in global empire or even projecting its military power globally. This is despite the fact that for most of human history, it was the most advanced nation on earth. China is a country that does economic deals around the world, they don't build bases all over the world.

That all said, its only a matter of time before China replaces us as the world's economic superpower. That is a given for a nation that has well over a billion of the hardest working people on earth.

You should travel to China, its a very nice country to visit. Great food, culture, history, natural beauty, and very friendly people. There is no animosity between the typical citizen of China and Westerners.

I think the status quo will probably continue on for decades. However, it is quite possible that in 20 years or so when China is by far the world's biggest economic power, that the average citizen of Taiwan starts to see a lot of economic advantages to having a Hong Kong style relationship with mainland China.

This.

If we go to war with Chine over Taiwan, but not with Russia over Crimea, then Jesus Christ.

We are never going to go to war with China.
1. You can opine all you want but you do not know that and therefore can not definitively speak on the mater.
2. My opining did not mention war, it mentioned dealing with their aggressiveness which will have to be done, unless of course they stop being aggressive.

people on both sides of this are completely kidding themselves; **** happens because **** happens, not because of any plan ................

one day we will all wake up & see more than one sun rise; when we see the second we will have a millisecond ..............

And do what exactly? Home port a nuclear aircraft carrier battle group in Taiwan?

Sell the Taiwanese a few advanced submarines loaded with MIRVed ballistic nuclear missiles. That would wake up the Chinese

this is actually the bigger threat from China

Report Chinese could stop Treasury buying seen as political but hits raw nerve

who's going to pay for the tax cut?

So he's going to impose tariffs on China and troll them over Taiwan, but he also expects them to help him with NK?

The hubris is disgusting.

Of course China is expected to assist with N Korea. They created the problem.
China has been using N Korea against the USA for years. Its time to shove Pyongyang down Beijing's throat.

Empty rhetoric.

We have the largest economy. They have the second largest. If Trump tries to order them around like the brash asshat he is, the rest of us are going to be paying the price for a while.

China doesn't have to do **** about North Korea if China doesn't want to. And unless North Korea is the one to start a shooting war, they have no reason to. That's even more true now that Trump wants to start a trade war.

Sure, we can devastate their economy. But that's only at the cost of devastating our own.

Nobody is suggest that Trump order China around. But the reality remains that N Korea survives because of patronage of China. And China has used Pyongyang volatility as a way to cover what its been doing in the south china sea.
So when Trump targets N. Korea he is putting Beijing on the defensive. And when he expands relations with Taiwan, he is hitting a very sore spot for China.
He needs to hit harder. China deserves it.

I know about China's relationship with NK.

That's irrelevant to the point I was making. If Trump wants China to help with NK, he has to work with China to get that. It was already a dubious situation. China has always backed NK because it wants it as a bulwark against perceived western encroachment. To get China to damage NK's regime, we need to be able to give China something, or at the very least satisfy it that it will still have a China-friendly neighbor even after any regime change (or anything like one). The only thing they don't want to happen is for NK to be the first to shoot in a hot war.

What does that mean? Well, it means we're nice to China until we get what we want. If we're smart, we continue to be reasonably nice after. Instead, Trump is poking China in the eye. China will retaliate, and US consumers - you and me - will hurt because of it.

You don't poke someone in the eye when you're seeking their help unless you are perfectly willing and able to bully them. But we cannot bully China without causing damage to ourselves. The more damage we do them, the more they can do us.

Let's forget about this stupid national bravado. It's not about what China "deserves".

In pragmatic reality, what matters is what works. This would be stupid even if we didn't want China's cooperation on NK. This would be stupid even if we didn't stir the pot on Taiwan. But because we do, it's stupiderererer.

Holy heart attack Batman! We HAVE been nice to China. We have not been pushing on their obvious bs in the south pacific. China has hidden behind all of the N Korea nonsense to advance their goals.
Trump is calling them on it and raising the stakes for China.
You want to back N Korea? Ok-- it comes at a cost.
You want to bully the countries of the south paccific- some who are long standing allies of the USA so as to control the seas? Really? Whats it worth to you? A recognition of an independent Taiwan? No. Then step back.
Leverage is needed. That is what Trump is pursuing.

The last two phrases are separated from the rest. The entire point is that 60 billion in sanctions is not ****ing leverage because they can hurt us just about as much as we can hurt them.

What do you expect will happen if he imposes the sanctions? Do you think he'll say "ok, we'll cancel them if you do X,Y,Z", then China will go do X,Y,Z? If so why, specifically and with historical examples. Why the hell would you think that gets leverage? China can do it right back.

The problem here is that Trump is applying what works in NYC real estate when you inherit a pile of money and can into bankruptcy protection six times without personally going to jail, or at least end up in an alleyway. That thinking doesn't work in geopolitics.

And you know what? I hope I'm wrong, because if I'm right it'll be a bitter I told you so. As with everything else Trump, it'll be an irrelevant one to boot because everyone who needs to hear it will find someone else to blame for the fallout.

The hubris is disgusting.

I am actually starting to like the idea that Trump was elected; why?

America will get our asses kicked; sure, I will die, just like everyone else but at least we will learn our lesson, for once.

Thanks Trump .....................
