One of my kids is very anti-social. Should he be branded because of it?

I think we need to be careful with how we treat kids that don't fit exactly into the mold that society thinks they should.

Emma Gonzalez said during her screaming fit the other day that she knew Cruz was dangerous when they were in junior high. I can't help but wonder if Cruz wasn't driven to it.

Not branded.... but looked at by proper professionals to see if there is a larger problem there than just being shy or a harmless loner.

Shame on you for daring to suggest that good kids in that school drove this kid to kill 17 innocent children. That is simply despicable and disgusting.

How long before word gets out on campus that those kids are being looked at to see if they're wouldbe murderers?

30-06 vs 223

Do you know which one is which?

Oh goodie!!!! A secret handshake question to see if you are a member of the club!!!!!

The 30 is on the right.

Did you eat your banana already?

have another

And you seriously think a 223 is more leathal?

You might want to save that nanner for yourself.

You cannot have it both ways. The representative for the NRA cannot sit there in that town hall and talk about mentally disturbed people not getting guns and then others on her side throw up actual roadblocks in trying to identify those people in the first place.

If we give credence to this NRA excuse, we are going to have to change our society profoundly so that people are indeed looked at and tested and examined and there ill be lots and lots of fall out from it and people will have their reputations questions and perhaps damaged.

But you can't have it both ways.

Don't these people crack ya' up? Ya' paint'em into a corner and they change the subject so fast it makes your head spin.

Bananas have potassium: it'll lower his blood pressure.

A pellet is lethal; what's your point? NATO uses 5.56; your argument is trash.

I asked how the kids's privacy was going to be protected. You know...their ****ing civil rights?

Is it just a coincidence that every idea the Libbos come up with violates someone's civil rights, or is it intentional?

223 and 556 are the same ****. :lamo

What a maroon dude. YOU asked about 30.06 vs 55.6. The 30 was on the right.

Eat some fish; it'll help.

You know they have lost with you when they resort to trying to trip you up on some technical gun questions.

I might have lived in the Detroit area my entire life but I am fairly ignorant about the mechanics of a car and all its various parts and functions. That does NOT mean I cannot have an informed opinion about traffic laws and speed limits just because I would fail a technological based test about cars.

Lets expose fraud like this whenever they raise their ugly head.

Tell guys like that that the people who wrote and passed the second amendment weren't gun experts, and watch what they do.

You cannot have it both ways. Either we investigate suspicious loners with behavior quirks or we don't because of your privacy concerns and the merry go round of disaster keeps on rolling along just like it is today. But you cannot have it both ways and neither can the NRA.

Y'know, I had a few people in this thread give me grief because I suggested augmenting law enforcement with qualified civilians for school security. I gave my reasons for that opinion but, as it happens, I now have another reason -

Sheriff: Armed officer at school never entered building during shooting
Sheriff: Armed officer at school never entered building during shooting | TheHill
The armed officer stationed at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., resigned Thursday after an internal review found he did not enter the school during last week's deadly shooting.

Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel announced deputy Scot Peterson chose to resign after Israel suspended him without pay.

"Scot Peterson was absolutely on campus through this entire event. He was armed. He was in uniform," Israel said at a press conference.

"After seeing video, witness statements and Scot Peterson's very own statement, I decided this morning to suspend [him] without pay pending an internal investigation," he continued.

Active shooter on the premises. Armed officer on scene for the express purpose of responding to such threats. Armed officer chooses to take up a defensive position and wait as the kids get shot up.

Unarmed football coach took one for the kids.

Sometimes a civilian is better mentally equipped than a cop to handle this type of thing. Sometimes some of us civilians have a whole lot more experience than the cops do when dealing with this kind of thing.

No.

I agree, show me where I have ever said otherwise.

If she knew then why did she not report him, and if she did (doubtful) report them then why on earth didn't those in authority act, or could they?

When I was in school, if we had our pants on, we had a pocket knife. Not one person ever got stabbed.

Yes, and we didn't have mass shootings at school then, did we? That's because the guys carried knives and NOT firearms.

What you're ignoring is the fact that when one kid goes up against another kid in a knife fight, neither one of them really knows who is the better knife fighter...but the weaker ones know that the stronger guys have a definite advantage. However, with firearms, the weaker kids don't have to worry - they know doggone well that they can take down the stronger kids...

...and if you'll think about it, most (not all, but most) of the school shootings have been committed by adolescent teen boys who were picked on. They were largely NOT committed by the bullies, but by the ones the bullies picked on.
