Or, agree with the the insinuation that neighbors and classmates in fact knew this might happen, did not report but should have done so ?

Yet, Republicans consistently work to slash funds for social programs, including healthcare, social services, community programs and even schools. The Republicans have no track record of being willing to actually invest in the solutions they are espousing herein. So, unless the Republicans are willing to put up, they have only earned the right to shut up.

Changes in gun availability is much cheaper than running expensive social programs. The solution, however, is multi-faceted and requires some degree of social restructuring. Sorry, the Cons are not the party that typically has the patience nor understanding to lead the charge or get the job done. They best just get out of the way (which is what they have pretty much been during the whole time that mass shootings have been a problem).

What is political about this? Can't we ever have a discussion on this board without ascribing a political value to it? Crimes are committed by Democrats and Republicans alike. Most crimes are a-political with the perpetrator having no political interests whatsoever. A registered Republican holding up a bank and shooting the teller is not making a political statement. He is merely a violent criminal that once checked a box on his voter registration form. Who cares?

Either give us a cite supporting the fact stated AND the relevance to this conversation or stand down in your own irrelevance.

Three former schoolmates of Cruz told ABC News that Cruz was part of the group. They claimed he marched with the group frequently and was often seen with Jereb, who also confirmed to ABC News that Cruz was, at least at one point, part of that group.

You make a cogent argument for why you believe they present a danger to themselves or to others and have a qualified mental health professional review your opinion along with the facts and circumstances supporting that opinion. From there you find a good reason to get law enforcement involved and, assuming you have managed to get all your ducks in a row, the authorities will order an inpatient evaluation.

There are also ways in most states to get an emergency guardianship ordered for adults who present a danger to themselves or others. If you are unwilling to act as guardian the state can almost always appoint one.

Until the shooting what crime or action did he commit, which would have allowed the police to do something about him that could have prevent him shooting the school?

Think about what this does for people with PTSD. He's calling on kids to report mental illness, children to make the diagnosis and bring SWAT running....for people already made so frightened of life...

Exactly, the peopel claiming "you should look out and report" as usual, completely ignore reality. You will have a neighbor pissed off at another, or some nutter who thinks because their neighbor listens to heavy metal and dresses funny is a potential killer. Then what happens? Arrest him and put in jail based on his word (can't do that, free speech). If no law was broken, the best you can do is keep your eye open. You also can't force people into mental hospitals if htey have not done anything.

This kid was on people's radar, and still there was little that could be done. THere is no legal means to do anything, he didn't break any laws until yesterday
