George W. Bush: There's clear evidence Russia 'meddled' in 2016 election [W:349]

George W. Bush: There's clear evidence Russia 'meddled' in 2016 election

Despite all the evidence, Trump continues to peddle the notion that Russian interference in the 2017 election is a hoax. To what degree such meddling affected the election outcome is difficult to quantify. But there is no question that Russia did meddle in various ways, and has meddled in the recent elections/referendums of many other countries. Even Trump appointed CIA Director Mike Pompeo stated last week that Russia will certainly meddle/interfere in the 2018/2020 elections.

Despite all the evidence, Donald Trump is still [purposefully] oblivious to such brazen Russian attacks.

He is stating the obvious. Russia is pressing the short game of societal upheaval, China is playing the long game of "soft power" and infiltrating itself into our colleges and media to soft peddle "the Chinese way".

The reasons are simple. We are an easy target. In too many poor areas we have a **** educational system where kids graduate that have no concept of history, and have been told the nations hero's were all gangsters and criminals in their own rights and after further analysis, we don't deserve to be here and we should give it back to the wo-wo Indians to run.

In some areas our public schools are top notch, in others they are babysitters.

Too much of our educational system breeds minds who buy the Russian and Chinese party line. And our only way to fight them is for the MSM to expose them. Good luck with that.

Did you lefties make a pact today to pollute the forums with this nonsense about Trump?

Oh, you misunderstand me. I don't think everything he says now is so important. The MEDIA thinks everything he says now is so important.

Here are some examples:

At least HuffPo isn't in the tank for Bush nowadays...at least, not totally.

All the links you posted are all him making political comments, that's going to be picked up by the media. If every little old thing he says is getting reported by the media, there must be better stuff.

And when Bush didn't support Obama, nothing he said had any credence on the left.

What did you think of Trump when he was donating to Hillary's campaign?

or calling her a "wonderful woman", or "the greatest secretary of state ever" (he said that in 2013)

Could you tell us which of the thousands of voting machines that belong to each of the 50 states and that the CIA has direct control of and responsibility for and the authority that gives them that control authority?

That he was playing both fields, like every billionaire businessman does.

you just admitted that Trump is an opportunist who says what he has to say to get what he wants. Congrats

"most of us"???

LOL!!

You wouldn't even be hearing of it...or caring...if the Mainstream Media didn't tell you about it.

Umm...that's kind of why we have a free press in the first place- to keep us informed about what's going on in our country and the world.

well, let's look at the date of the article; Nov 12, 2017. So, it took Trump over a year to admit to something that everyone already knew.

With such great ability to address issues within a timely manner & to be so responsive, I'm sure he will make a great POTUS  ..........

what quotes from Trump in the last couple of months shows him thinking that the Russian influence in the election is a hoax?

i will wait?

i saw a tweet he sent in November that said in no uncertain terms that he agreed they "influenced" the election

RT was a huge influence on the election....

i dont think very many people are disputing that....

Now connecting those dots to Trump and his associates is where the issues begin

I dont know what the investigation will end with....but i dont think it will end the way a lot of democrats want it to

He wont testify...and you wont get him in the trap that Clinton fell into....a process issue

So the question remains....does Mueller have enough to connect the dots, and was Trump's team a part of the issue

That is the question....and anyone that thinks they know the definitive answer at this point is fooling themselves

And it took you another 4 months to bitch about it some more, or get a clue that your complaint is outdated.

Unfortunately, the Mainstream portion of that free press seem to be more concerned with keeping you informed about what THEY think you should know. That's why they don't have a problem being hypocritical by pushing derogatory stuff and complementory stuff about Bush when it suits them.

Bush is Establishment. The Establishment is pushing this Russian narrative. This is not Democrats vs GOP - it is Establishment (both corrupt parties) vs Americans (who voted for AND support President Trump).

Erecting a cathedral around the words & thoughts of Bush is a really bad idea! Wasn't he the guy
who claimed Iraq had WMD creating the upheaval in the Mid East which is still in turmoil 15 years later,
& losing American lives & Treasure accomplishing nothing.

The treason demonstrated by Trump supporters, apologists and enablers in ignoring the Russian involvement in the stolen election for their right wing idol Trump, elevates the charge of DEPLORABLES to a whole new abysmal level.

Another person clueless to the definition of Treason.

Because it's nothing new. The US has a history of "meddling" in other countries' elections. What makes you think other countries in the past have not tried to "meddle" in our elections?!?

Oh, that deflection.

There's a very simple answer to it: national security trumps potential charges of hypocrisy. That's why even allies spy on each other.

And we don't want foreign powers trying to influence our elections regardless of what we've done to them.

Cue Republican posters on this forum, all who voted for and defended Bush for 8 years, to attack him now because he DARED to say something that could be considered "negative" about the current Republican messiah.

Doing that means automatic conversion to "closet liberal" status, you see...

Good article, lutherf. I'd like to know what we are now doing to prevent Russian interference. It sounds like a couple of the internet companies have vowed to help fight this in their systems.

Trump called for the Russians to hack the DNC. But, now he (claims to believe) Russian interference in the election didn't happen. That given, how much is he willing to fund anything to try and reduce their future attempts?

In the digital era there isn't a lot you can do to stop propaganda. What needs to be happening is that people need to differentiate between fact and opinion. They need to take a critical view of information they are receiving and spend a little time evaluating it.

It's really easy to surf the internet, browse a few headlines and, maybe scan an article or two then decide that you have all the facts. That isn't the case. People really need to dig into the information that's coming their way, try to view it from various angles and see how it holds up.

I'm not doing that. I'm treating him like a hypocrite...and the media along with him.

Why a hypocrite? His values haven't changed. His party's values changed.
