Trump to take advice from lawyers

because in a legal proceeding, it's best to know the answer before you ask the question. the person being interviewed is under oath, remember. this won't be a friendly Republican congressional show trial, either. if Trump pulls a Sessions with Mueller, there will likely be serious consequences for him. speaking of which, i wonder how the Sessions session went.

But if I ask you questions you already know the answer to, and I get one wrong. Perjury trap! Process crime trap!

So no legitimate reasons then. And you accuse others of partisan confirmation bias.

I hate when people don't pay attention to what I actually post. This has nothing to do with partisan politics. watch the video posted by the left winger above about why you don't talk to police then get back to me. /facepalm

Add to that, an in-person interview allows Mueller to read his body language and press for answers that might not be included in Mueller's questions. Either 45 meets with Mueller or he can go before a grand jury with no lawyer present.

investigations involve questioning people. it's easy enough to avoid perjury charges : tell the truth, or plead the fifth. or lie under oath in front of a friendly congress; there's that one, too.

exactly. if it was the other way around they would be posting **** like this, these hacks have no problem feigning idiocy to support thier side.

Hey, I am as anti Trump as anyone, so, well, guess you can call me a hack if you like, but it's simple common sense anyone with a brain knows, you don't wanna have to make statements in investigations period. The only good that could ever come of it is nothing bad. That's not much for upside.

if Mueller gets him talking, Katie, bar the door. i hope that his lawyers have some ludes stockpiled. it has to be stressful when your client is a loudmouthed fool with no filter.

I read your post. Trump said Whirlpool is gone. It isn't. Or are you saying Trump is the Maytag Man?

Whirlpool Inc is the "maytag" man

that is their #1 brand

and the # 1 spokesman for the company....

hope that clears that up

Yeah, gotta agree here....

Special prosecutor = Investigator = Police. It really is so simple.

number one rule

never help the police

they may get you...but you are an idiot if you help them by incriminating yourself

"lawyer" should be the only word out of your mouth

and i have a LOT of cop friends

Sometimes that "lie" is a matter of perception. best not risk it, ask any attorney.

Yes, and Whirlpool isn't gone, contrary to what Trump said. Hope that clears it up too.

I was not obviously not speaking about you. There are those on both sides, or even outside the pro-anti crowds who are rational people, but we, my friend, sadly seem to be the minority these days.

that ought to be a fun day

i want to see cops step into the WH, cuff the president, and lead him to a court room where they start asking him questions

yeah....that will happen

and cops and investigators routinely have to finish investigations never having talked to the main culprit, right?

because the attorney will not allow them to question the "perp"

they dont want their client blurting out something he/she shouldnt

so the cops/investigator can make the case without the questioning, or they cant

i think that is the point where we are right now....Mueller may want to question Trump, but wont get the opportunity

so either he has enough now, or he doesnt....it is that easy

Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump told reporters on Wednesday that he would talk to special counsel Robert Mueller under oath and looks forward to the opportunity, but that he will listen to the advice of his lawyers.

Trump made the comments to a group of reporters who were meeting with chief of staff John Kelly at the White House.
"I am looking forward to it, actually," Trump said, when asked if he was going to talk to Mueller. "Here is the story: There has been no collusion whatsoever. There is no obstruction whatsoever. And I am looking forward to it."
Trump suggested that people could wrongly construe his attempts to "fight back" against the investigation as obstruction.

So when his attorneys tell him not to show up....what next?

When he tells the grand jury convened to go pound sand, what CAN they do?

No one can be forced to testify against oneself....

And he can and will play the executive privilege card

So when all is said is done....

Does Mueller get his interview? Is it under oath? In what capacity....does Trump and his lawyers get to see the questions first?

I say no grand jury....

No under oath straight questioning

Maybe a questionnaire that Trump and his attorneys get to fill out

That boys and girls is what i see happening in the next 2-3 weeks

:3oops: not what you all hoped for or expected

Weather guilty of anything or not I find the idea of trump not perjuring himself near to be a highly daunting task if he is allowed to talk to much. But until any of this actually happens who knows/

There is no case for collusion or obstruction from the legal eagles I have been reading. You can't get to obstruction because a president fights back at allegations and within his presidential authority fires someone because he finds him to be untrustworthy.

And when this is all over, our government is going to be sued by several people who lost their fortunes because they were forced to pay for massive attorney fees because of this charade. There's a guy by the name of Caputo associated with the Trump transition team that had to use his children's college funds to pay for attorney fees against trumped up charges and now is suing the government for what they put his family through. I think you are going to see a lot of cases like this after this is all said and done. Over 20 members of the WH staff former and present had to hire attorneys because Mueller's team wanted to interview them. Members of his transition team the same.

And if all this **** got started because some POS's anti Trump FBI DOJ in the top echelon of these agencies started over illegal surveillance of members of Trump's campaign, transition team and even after he became president by dressing up that dossier as counter intelligence to obtain FISA warrants , the folks will have every right to sue the government and most likely win.

#Releasethememo, #Releasethedocuments, #ReleasetheFISArequestsandwarrants, #Releasethenames of those who shared raw data with contractors, like Fusion GPS. #Releasethenamesoftheleakers......all those in government who leaked to the press......lock them up.

sometimes a lie is a lie, as well. a matter of perception is the lens that one views the lie through, though.

That's how one gets caught in a lie, aka perjury. A Federal crime.

That'd be a smart move by Trump.

Did you have sexual relations with Monica? And that was irrelevant to the nation...

Why would Trump refuse to talk to the FBI, what's he hiding? He said he would meet with them on numerous occasions.
In any case, they can subpoena him, and while no president has ****ed up as bad as Trump and tested it, I've seen on indication that the president, when properly being investigated, has the authority to refuse. They may negotiate how it's done, but it will be done if they want it to.

How would speaking to a prosecutor exonerate you? His job is to prosecute you. even with a process crime. So what advantage, I'll ask again is there to speaking to the guy who's goal, who's job is to prosecute you?

innocent or not, any lawyer that recommends you speak to a prosecutor like this is giving you bad advice.

You also can't compare it to clinton given the fix was in for her, and she got away with several obvious crimes.

Trump should find out from Mueller the objective of the interview-- is Trump a target? A potential witness?

If Comey was a witness at the point of the tape tweet, could his threats be interpretted as intimidating a witness?

That tape thing bothered me, personally. Because Trump was obviously making **** up in a fantastic display of belligerence.

Anyway, yeah, I think Trump will find his polite soft voice.. but, if he is really delusional there will just be inconsistencies with reality and Trump's reality. Mueller will ask him something about reality and Trump will bring back an answer from Trumpworld....

Intimidating a witness to tell the truth? When someone says they have tape of the conversation it is to encourage them to tell the truth about what is stated because there is a record of it.
