To be fair, it wouldn't be the first time Durbin has lied about comments made behind closed doors so there is reason to be skeptical. It does sound like a comment Trump would make so it wouldn't surprise me in the least had he made the comments.

Actually there are many others who back up Durbin's account so being fair would be to believe him. Even the Whitehouse did not push back on it at first. This was all a smokescreen for Trump's rejection of the bipartisan DACA bill and we are now supposed to forget that Trump promised that he would sign it.


Here are Trump's own words to that effect....Speaking of known liars.

Dick Durbin was born in East St Louis. He got caught up in the House overdraft fiasco in the 90s' and was defeated in his re-election bid in large part because of that. In Democrat circles check embezzlement is a resume enhancer because a few years later he won a Senate bid and here we are. Stuck with a guy that kites checks and smears armed forces is considered a paragon of virtue to the Democratic party.

Whatever you think of Trump, Durbin doesn't deserve your trust.

You might be surprised but people do that with POTUS's. You see before Trump their words mattered.

Like an aging arena rock band, Trump is no longer writing much new material. He goes out there and plays the hits. Each false claim the Post pulled out of Tuesday's meeting is something the Enormously Consensual President has offered up before. One of these will find itself on the trophy plaque reading, "2,000th Presidential Lie":

Does it not trouble anyone else that what we are kicking back and forth are the suffix of a vulgar word (house/hole) and whether or not a word (I) or a contraction (I’d) was spoken? To the point that people are slowing a tape to further dissect the sounds. Reminds me of the vinyl album that gave some satanic message when played backwards.

Whatever your position, all the evidence that you need is in, (and has been for a long time.) Now the question is, what are you going to do now.

Durbin also has a long record of lies. Neither is a sterling example of a civil servant.

Don't get me wrong, I am not saying he did not say it. I'm simply saying there is reason to be skeptical of Durbin's account since it wouldn't be the first time should it be proven false.
