Joe Arpaio Is Running For Senate In Arizona

True to a point- Can the Party refuse to let him run as an R in the primary?
This guy is a real POS.

I dunno if the party can do that legally. The party, of course, could deny to share any money or assistance to a campaign. Not sure if that would effectively kill it or not.

Reason I ask is that it is a tad different north of the 49th. If running for a particular party that party must sign off on it. Otherwise they run as other- independent.

Hmm. Interesting. Something I didn't know, so thanks.

I suppose that kinda makes sense, from the party label branding point of view.

If a candidate wants to run representing the (insert name here) party, the party gets to decide if the candidate is a fair representative of the party.

It has good and bad points- The party does parachute in people they want to have the nomination- they also play their own games and such, where that party nominee is not voted in by the party riding, who vote for another- **** starts happening.
That said, it generally work wells, and I do like your primary system. It like ours has warts as well, but as time passes, so does change.

To be a party candidate the nomination papers need to be signed by the leader of the party.

He's a very GOOD candidate in that he hasn't sexually assaulted anyone.......

that we know about. yet.

He is as mentally stable and every bit as much a genius as Trump. He’d make a great 2020 running mate for Trump. Oh, Arpaion is willing to sell all of his ocean front property in Arizona to pay for his campaign.

He'd have to win, first. Arizona is much less rednecky that Alabama and you saw what just happened to Roy Moore. Arpaio is just Roy Moore without the proclivity to abuse children.

Arizona is pretty rednecky in its own right.

The Romney factor in neighboring Utah will be huge in AZ as I see it, along with NV, NM and CO.

Rep. Sinema will be hard-pressed to beat Rep. McSally in the general, especially with the very poor voter turnout history in AZ-03 and AZ-07. As McSally runs to the hard right at this moment, Arpaio and Ward will split the trump primary vote.

Sen. Heller in NV looks stronger every day against Tarkanian. He'll beat Rep. Rosen in a state with a popular GOP Gov. Sandoval term-limited with GOP AG Laxalt moving in.

A huge race in NM has GOP Rep. Pearce against DEM Rep. Grisham for governor. DEM Colorado governor is also termed out ...

Why do you presume that I don't care about such things? Don't answer, I can tell where your degree of intellect is.

Because you support a man who blatantly violates peoples' constitutional rights, routinely. You can't support Arpaio and also care about constitutional rights.

Arpaio is running for Jeff Flake's open Senate seat. In my opinion, a much bigger flake is running for Flake's seat. This is the age of Trump hate. This makes sense.[/QUOTE]

The voters of Alabama decided they did not want an allegedly child molester and pervert to represent them in Congress.

Why should the voters of Arizona vote any differently? Will they want to vote for a convicted felon? Look, we are talking about the decay of the Republican Party. Motto: Republicans would rather vote for a Republican thief rather than a Democrat reverend.

Sheriff Joe gets the Christopher Lee award for comebacks. Yes, children, Dracula has risen from the grave.

He and Trump apparently have problems with the old "innocent until proven guilty" thing. Their supporters apparently don't care.

Good grief, Arpaio. He burned a dog alive and laughed when the owner cried. He made women give birth in shackles. He refused to investigate child sex crimes. He operated what he called a "concentration camp." Those are just a few of the disgusting things he's known for.

I thought you were kidding. I googled it. You are right. I'm sick to my stomach now.

He does not stand a snowballs chance in hell of winning, but hey waste a few Million to make yourself feel better, that is until you lose.

I suppose it depends on who runs against him, but a state that has kept John McCain in office for so long could elect anybody at all, even Donald Trump.
