New York’s Attorney General in Battle With Trump - NY Times this morning

    https://www.nytimes.com/2017/12/26/n...-new-york.html

Eric Schneiderman, New York’s attorney general, reached a milestone of sorts recently.

By moving to sue the Federal Communications Commission over net neutrality this month, his office took its 100th legal or administrative action against the Trump administration and congressional Republicans. His lawyers have challenged Mr. Trump’s first, second and third travel bans and sued over such diverse matters as a rollback in birth control coverage and a weakening of pollution standards. They have also unleashed a flurry of amicus briefs and formal letters, often with other Democratic attorneys general, assailing legislation they see as gutting consumer finance protections or civil rights.

“We try and protect New Yorkers from those who would do them harm,” Mr. Schneiderman said during a recent interview in his Manhattan office. “The biggest threat to New Yorkers right now is the federal government, so we’re responding to it.”

Even if Trump fires Mueller, this guy will pick up the prosecutions as NY State is not affected by Federal (i.e. Presidential) pardons.

    Oh he absolutely will.

Be careful, though. I said this the other day and was informed that because I no longer live in New York, I have absolutely no idea what the NYS AG is doing (or will do).

You realize that he's not suing Trump personally over anything mentioned here right?

Another 'checks and balances' between states and states rights vs federal government?

I guess I'm OK with that, and will abide by what the end of the likely to be multiple courts and multiple court rulings.

The biggest threat to New Yorkers is the US federal government? The biggest threat? Of all threats? Wow. A bit hyperbolic there Mr. Attorney General. Gonna be interesting to see how a Progressive Leftist Democrat runs on that position for NY Governor, or US Senator, or for whatever it is that he's positioning himself.

I agree that the biggest threat to any US citizen (not just New Yorkers), when it comes to their rights, freedom, and liberty, is the power and actions of the federal government. The take down of Net Neutrality is a good current example.

I do find it ironic and more than just a tad hypocritical, however, that a Progressive would use that argument, given the Progressive movement's history (especially NY Progressives) of supporting federal infringements upon personal rights, personal freedom, and personal liberty by an ever growing and ever more powerful federal government when under their control. Just look at Teddy and FDR as a starting point. Talk about growing the power of the federal government and threatening the rights, freedom, and liberty of the average US citizen... Even Hillary described herself happily as an "early 20th Century Progressive" and acts that way as well.

Biggest threat to New Yorker? Maybe not when compared to all the potential threats that New Yorkers face, like street crime, union intimidation (my personal experience - twice), terrorism, and of course driving on the L.I.E. But what the heck, let's name Trump (what he really meant) as the biggest threat to New Yorkers, because it sounds cool and gets the rank and file Democrats in New York fired up.

Now, as for his filing of lawsuits and amicus briefs, well, that's his job as the NY State Attorney General.

Some of the suits and amicus briefs are probably (I haven't read them so I couch the statement with 'some' and 'probably') are legitimate and not purely political retribution given power by his position. But, some of them may not be legitimate, and could be nothing but political retribution given power by his position, although even some (if not all) of those could potentially be legitimate if the majority of NY voters support and agree with his actions.

But still... the biggest threat to New Yorkers, is the federal government? Anyone else see the irony in that coming from a Progressive Leftist Democrat New York politician?

Everything in your life is a reflection of a choice you have made. If you want a different result, don't blame someone else, or expect others to make a change, you should stop complaining and make a different choice. Remember, the circumstances of your birth don't determine the outcome of your life.

Sure seems like they think so, or at least the entire nation, all of whom should just shut up, stop dissenting their decisions, and comply.

Eric wants the governorship. This is Cuomo's last term in office. This means Eric will step down from the AG's office. Don't count on him becoming Don Quixote.
