Top FBI official linked to reporter who broke Trump dossier story

https://www.politico.com/story/2017...bi-james-baker-david-corn-mother-jones-316157

"House Republicans are investigating contact between the FBI's top lawyer and a Mother Jones reporter in the weeks before the left-leaning outlet broke the first news story about the existence of a disputed dossier alleging ties between President Donald Trump and the Kremlin, according to two congressional GOP sources who described documents linking the two men.

The GOP sources said the documents — made available recently to lawmakers by the Department of Justice — revealed that James Baker, the FBI's general counsel, communicated with Mother Jones reporter David Corn in the weeks leading up to the November 2016 election. Corn was the first to report the existence of the dossier on Oct. 31 and that it was compiled by a former high-level western spy."

The Washington Post reported Thursday that Baker had been reassigned within the FBI, though the reason for the move was unclear."

Well well well, obviously this ties into the growing scandal involving the links between the Obama DOJ and Fusion GPS and Christopher Steele prior to and after the election. This story isn't going anywhere

All it shows what was already known. That obama was president of one of the most corrupted administrations in recent history.
He would give Nixon a run for his money.

Corn has disputed that charge. His source was not Baker.

If Fenton posts it, we know it's false.

Kinda hard to come to any conclusion other than that when you have:

  • Political opposition research endings up being used by the administration to get a FISA warrant
  • An administration that purposefully increased the distribution of unmasked intelligence of American citizens and political opponents
  • An administration that spies on journalists
  • An administration which publicly tries to redirect the electorate's attention of their security failures on a YouTube video
  • An administration which created a two-tired justice system to protect one of their own
  • An administration which concluded the outcome of an FBI investigation before even the principals were interviewed
  • An administration which freely gave immunity deals for political allies in the midst of an investigation
  • An administration which doesn't charge one their political allies when they destroyed evidence which was under FBI / DOJ subpoena
  • An administration who's representatives routinely lied before congress during sworn congressional testimony
  • . . . .
  • And on and on and on it goes

Most corrupt? Yeah, pretty much.

Most corrupt? Yeah, pretty much.

I wouldn't say most corrupt. Some of the earlier administrations were way way worse.

Corn has disputed that charge. His source was not Baker.

Is the standard now a verbal denial?

Trump said no collusion with Russia,

Case closed

So, you're admitting that 45's administration is corrupt. Probably your one honest post, ever.

No. Corn claims his source wasn't Baker. I have no reason to believe Corn anymore than I do anyone else in this matter until some concrete evidence is offered. To date, I've seen none, and nobody else in the general public has either.

Being you must be pretty frightening. Happy Holidays.

Fair enough. 'Most corrupt modern administration' ?

Being you must be pretty frightening. Happy Holidays.

I'm a happy guy, but I'm not taking any of this on faith in any of the individuals involved here. Merry Christmas to you too.

And a better new Year.

And a better new Year.

That too, but personally speaking, the past year has been pretty good. We're very fortunate in this country. I hope that continues regardless of the political turmoil we experience from time to time. For many, things just seem awful now, but I remember events going back 40 and 50 years, and they didn't seem so peachy at the time either.

Trying reading.
As usual your dishonesty in posting knows no bounds.

Yeah, that makes it okay. Sure, yeah, got it. He didn't say that he didn't give Corn information, Corn just that he wasn't the source. Corn has to say that to protect his source, if he was his source. This is what I find odd:
During the closed-door session, Republicans grilled McCabe about who at the department was authorized to talk to the media. One Republican at Tuesday's intelligence committee interview with McCabe laid out a "hypothetical" example of the FBI's general counsel meeting with a Mother Jones reporter.
McCabe, according to a source familiar with the exchange, said such a meeting would be unauthorized, according to the source.
Sources familiar with the congressional investigations said Baker did not return Thursday when McCabe came back to testify before the Judiciary and Oversight Committees in their related inquiries.

This is different than the situation with the other agents that were removed. They were found by the IG and removed as soon as Mueller and Rosenstein found out. This guy was removed AFTER someone outside the agency found out. No mea culpa for this screw up. I bet Mueller is furious. Looks like his vetting might not have been that effective.

Another article with additional information:
https://www.circa.com/story/2017/07...r-leaking-classified-information-to-the-media
FBI General Counsel James A. Baker is purportedly under a Department of Justice criminal investigation for allegedly leaking classified national security information to the media, according to multiple government officials close to the probe who spoke with Circa on the condition of anonymity.
Baker is a close confidant of former FBI Director James Comey, and recent media reports suggested he was reportedly advising the then-FBI director on legal matters following private meetings the former director had in February with President Trump in the Oval Office.

He would give Nixon a run for his money.

In terms of corruption, Obama can't even see Nixon in the rear view mirror.

Nixon was forced out of office for thinking about what Obama actually did.

Oh, Corn disputed it? Well, hell! There's nothing to it. Of course Corn wouldn't lie about something like that.

Whatevs, dude! :lamo

Or, his vetting was right on target, because he was looking for anti-Trump partisans to skew the findings of the investigation against President Trump.

He probably didn't count of getting busted.

I suspect when that House committee calls Baker back, he's going to suddenly suffer from memory loss.

We're closer to finding out who unmasked Flynn.

For such high placed and well regarded people in the FBI they aren't as smart as they are allowed to be it seems.

This is a text from Strzok, "So look, you say we text on that phone when we talk about Hillary because it can't be traced," Page wrote. "You were just venting, [because] you feel bad that you’re gone so much but that can’t be helped right now."

Now it's a part of public record in a high profile investigation.
