Woman Says George H.W. Bush Groped Her When She Was 16: 'I Was a Child'

So do believe it is sexual assault. Should Bush be charged?

I don't know if I would classify it as sexual assault. But it is certainly inappropriate behavior.

He's pretty much at the end of his life, so there's really no point in trying to charge him. Along with the fact that these actions may be due to his dementia.

Mags and I... if she agrees... are talking about little two year old daughters, type of thing. Not teenage ones. Mine is nearing 15 now. Your dad probably wrestle grabbed and or tickled your butt... arms... head... legs... etc a million times.

Sure, my dad has done some of those things. I've never been tickled on the butt, though (or at least I don't remember that ever happening to me). Stomach, yes. But that's not what happened in this apparent case with Bush. It was not appropriate behavior. But H.W. Bush is suffering from old age, so his actions might be due to that.

SouthernDemocrat posted this in another thread and I thought he made a good point:

He is 93 years old. So he would have been 89 or 90 at the time. Often when seniors start getting some age related dementia, they do things like this that they would not otherwise have done. I am willing to cut him some slack because of that.

George H.W. Bush is a good man.

Actually Bush admitted it but still, a butt grab is not a big deal IMO.

You're obviously desperate for affirmation on this issue. That's why you make threads about it without condemnation.

But Bush didn't "admit it". The statement released was ~"Bush does not have it in his heart to intentionally cause anyone distress, and he apologizes for any offense to anyone".

In other words, he claimed a misunderstanding/accident with apology for such.

Then that kind of begs the question of why this woman came out with the accusation if there is no intent to do something about it.

I don't know what her motivations were. Maybe she was just following the recent wave of outings concerning innapropiate behavior.

It's funny watching grown people trying to turn inappropriate behavior into a crime. Like there is no middle ground. This is why our politics suck so bad.

Yeah. It's certainly not enough to warrant any criminal action, but it definitely is innapropiate behavior.

Who's said he's suffering from dementia?

I just hope with all the hullabaloo, boys don't give up on girls entirely! It's pretty high risk with a long incubation time.

If you plan on engaging in inappropriate sexual contact, i'd suggest it is a very good idea to give up on girls entirely.

What if it's the other way around?

Stereotyping someone because of his age.

Sounds tolerant.
