The woman’s name is Juli Briskman. Her employer, government contractor Akima LLC, wasn’t so happy about the photo. They fired her over it.

In a Saturday interview with HuffPost, Briskman, a 50-year-old mother of two, said she was stunned that someone had taken a picture of her giving Trump the middle finger.

Well, this lady got cheers from the left. Her employers just didn't like it, so they got rid of her. I don't know if I would have fired her if I was in the position to do so, but whatever.
 
Don't worry... I'm sure Juli Briskman got her fair share of cheers from left-wing nuts. Maybe she'll run for Congress and get not-fired by them, too.
 
Her employer is a government contractor, so it's not too smart to be flipping off the president as it can be implied the company condones her behavior which is at odds with the company's mission - I.E. bid for government jobs. This could also be used to challenge their ability to do classified work as politically unfiltered employees have been known to copy and distribute classified data to the world at large for our enemies and competitors to peruse.

I wish her the best of luck in finding a rewarding job with real meat on the bones at PETA.
 
Firing someone for doing something perfectly legal out of work hours which doesn't involve the company in any way is immoral and in most civilised countries, would be illegal.

When did corps start dictating what you can do in your own time?

Damn right Walsh got cheers, Obama was a consumate liar, he lied repeatedly. Dont blame the right or their reactions for Obama's lack of morality or ethics, thats on him.

As for this women losing her job ? Im sure if the tables were turned and she was flipping off Obama, the Left would have had no problem with her employer terminating her.

Would be the same as a Hillary supporter firing someone for having a trump sign in their yard.

Unemployment would be well over double if everyone that flipped off trump was fired for it...

So you're implying that the Trump administration might punish an entire company because one random employee exercised her free speech? She didn't choose to take the picture, you can't actually see her face. A fellow employee was recently repremanded by the company for calling someone a libtard asshole on facebook. He wasn't fired, simply given an opportunity to take the post down.

I'm not too worried about it because it was technically legal for the company to do it, she'll probably easily find another job at a more sympathetic company, and it gives further ammo to ending the concept of full blown at-will employment.

Actually, she probably won't, and in most cases, it would be perfectly legal for a Hillary supporting boss to fire a Trump supporting employee. It's petty, and there might be blowback against the company from customers that agree with the employee, but legally there is very little that the employee can do in an at-will employment state.

Of course there is 'justice'. Her employer fired her. His employers reelected him. The two are completely unconnected and unrelated. But heres a tip.If you are employed y an organization who's life blood is government contracts..thats prolly something you dont want to do.

If you are someone who awards contracts that involve sensitive data, your decision might be challenged. If you are digging a ditch, maybe not.

Reality Leigh Winner worked for a defense contractor, got a wild butt hair and did a classified document dump and is not facing 20 years. This isn't your fathers USA anymore.

That really sucks. I'm a big believer that when you are off the clock you should be able to live your life. I guess with social media and cameras everywhere people are always under scrutiny now.

Can't argue with you on this one at all (though the Libbos thing makes you sound dumber than you are).

We live in the day and age when someone can get fired for demonstrating while wearing a swastika or going against company policy by writing MRA rants, when anything you do could end up going viral on social media, there's no reason to think that the Left would be any safer than the Right in this regard. I loved the pic, laughed like hell, and I imagine she felt pretty good doing it...hopefully it was worth the job, and I'm betting that there are any number of Left leaning organizations that saw the pick and felt the same that would hire her. If your boss wants to fire you for flipping Trump the bird, maybe it's time to consider a new place to work anyway, if you're so inclined.

That, or just doing your political ranting and raving anonymously on DP like the rest of us...hehe... ;)
 
It is unfortunate she was fired. She was on her own time and it isn't like she posted it online for the world to see.
