Jenna Abrams, Alt-right Hero on Twitter, Was Really a Russian Troll Who Tricked Republicans

As opposed to non-Russian trolls who spread disinformation. Singling out Russia for this is just Russophobia

Do you have some links that describe these non-Russian trolls that achieved anything close to what the Russian trolls managed?

You a Putin fan boy?

You don't care about a foreign adversaries interference in our government? You don't care about falsified propaganda? Who is flying off the handle?

Should we are, of course. Should we be shocked that this occurred in 2016 or for that matter for many years before that of course not. Would anyone be surprised that the U.S. has done the same thing for decades, doubt it.

Did Obama declare war on Israel when he interfered with their elections? Maybe in his way he did.

With the rise of social media, Facebook and Twitter especially the tools for this type of interference are much greater. Thus we need to be more vigilant.

What sort of success did they have? According to the Facebook CEO, .0004% of all ads on Facebook were from Russian sources. And as for being a 'Putin fanboy' that's just a stupid comment on your part. If that's the best you can come up with, don't waste my time

All political ads, or just all ads?

I don't know what effect the ads have but looking at the totals misses everything. If you've read about Mercer's efforts at all, what the data boys have been able to do is use what we do on social media to develop highly accurate profiles of individuals, which means getting very good ideas of political lean, who can be persuaded, and then target them with great precision.

We've all seen it with products. If I search for camera filters, then every page I visit will have ads for camera filters. It's the same thing but far more sophisticated. So it doesn't matter if .0004% of visitors to a site get ads for neutral density filters, I do and the question is if those are effective.

They were very effective because, as I noted and fletch ignored, they got others to echo and amplify their messages.
Russian fake accounts showed posts to 126 million Facebook users

126 million is over 30% of the US population. And that doesn't include things people copied from FB feeds and posted elsewhere. I bet you can find a bunch of that content on DP, but I wasn't a member during the campaign so I'm speculating about that.

Right. And you would have picked up on this deception right away I'm sure.

I don't follow right wing con artists.

That hasn't happened since Obama left office.
Who claimed it did?

Like the Steele dossier?
Everyone knows Trump has paid prostitutes, it's part of his charm, he's just strangely embarrassed by it. (most men in power use that power for sex, wtf else did they get that power for?)

Do you have a mirror handy?
I do, it's facing you.

Who claimed it did?

You didn't?

So he paid a prostitute? Who cares?

I do, it's facing you.

I ain't at your crib. :lamo

So he paid a prostitute? Who cares?

Perhaps all those evangelicals who voted for him and who were decieved just might care about a man with those type of morals - or lack of any.

All those "evangelicals" know that no one is perfect; that we're all sinners.

You didn't?
I asked you!
So he paid a prostitute? Who cares?
You really think that would shock Trump supporters into not supporting him?

I ain't at your crib. :lamo
It's virtual, it's facing the monitor, this is the digital age, no need for all that meat bag in-person crap anymore!

FULL TITLE: Jenna Abrams, Alt-right Hero on Twitter, Was Really a Russian Troll Who Tricked Republicans and Celebrities

Alt-right Twitter heroine Jenna was in reality a paid Russian troll working out of the St. Petersburg troll factory ... probably named Svetlana. Seems her assignment was to sow racial/ethnic discord.

Related: Russia-linked hacker edited DNC email to call it 'confidential': report

Alt Wingers are so stupid, they do not even know how stupid they are. Now that is stupid.

I wonder how many here supporting trump are Russian trolls?

Probably most of them. Many of them, however, probably aren't aware of it. lol

Yeah, you might want to recheck your math, too. Facebook has 2 billion active monthly accounts. No way to tell how many of those 126million were US or foreign clicks. Assuming they are all US exposure is just not logical.

I was assuming that FB was 1) minimizing the quoted number for business reasons and 2) that customers like the Russian troll factories were smart enough to use the demographic targeting info FB admitted to supplying. They wouldn't target a place like Africa with North American political propaganda unless they were really inept.

I could be wrong. I'll see if I can find a conclusive answer.

First I've ever heard of "her."

Nice headline, though. From the story:

So they list one Republican but two Democrats, but the headline is all about "Republicans" being fooled.

I am sure they were fooled.. but there is a difference between 'responding' and 'debating', and swallowing the rhetoric.

Do you realize more than Americans have Facebook pages?

Probably most of them. Many of them, however, probably aren't aware of it. lol

The Russian trolls knew that posting this non sense would get support from angry conservative white men....Pretending to be a woman made it even easier for them to push the lies

OMG, next up someone is going to inform me that a Yelp Review was fake.

OMG the dismissive snark of the Trump team knows no limits... :doh

Comparing a Yelp review to a deliberate foreign power (the one Obama and Clinton were attacked for attempting a reset with when they ran the show) attempting a deep, well backrounded interference with our elections.

Seriously??? :doh

Those are the US numbers. Similar enquiries are taking plab=ce in the UK.

If you think I missed that, it's you who can't read. Start with my first post and see if you can't figure it out. I won't hold my breath.

Yeah, you should read the article again.
