The way I look at this is, Hillary's loss to Trump, marked the end of the Hippy protest era of the 1960's. Too many people on the left are still living in that past, which they had hoped would be continued into the present through the Clintons. The demonstrations, protests and even the use of force, today, are all based on the old war cry templates of the 1960's.
That time was unique and honorable, but the extrapolation into the present is not exactly correct. It was about social change. But also the young people of the 1960's did not trust big government and politicians. In the 1960's, one of the sayings was; "power to the people", not more power to bigger and bigger government. The young people of the 1960's, were against the Swamp of the 1960's. The swamp, then and now, is special interests and lobbyists controlling politicians through campaign donations and future golden parachutes. Back then it was the military business complex and entrenched southern Democrats, who wanted to maintain segregation and old values. Voting for change did not matter, as long as the swamp was in charge. The young people saw this.
The young people of the 1960's fought their swamp. They did lower the level, but were not able to drain the swamp. The swamp is able to maintain continuity, since loyal appointees such as judges and bureaucrats, can have careers that last 40 years. They will remain faithful to the past; glory days. They will sabotage changes internally, if the past is tampered with.
The modern swamp is still about big money controlling the direction of leadership, with leadership using money laundering of tax payer money, to get their own donations. The newest and boldest swamp scam was laundering borrowed money. As an example, but by no means the only example, Obama gave clean energy millions in borrowed grants; deficit spending. These companies then give some of this earmarked borrowed money as a campaign donation. Whether this borrowed money buys guns or solar panels, the swamp wins.
Trump is actually part of the power to the people aspect for the 1960's. He says the same things as were said back then. The young people wanted less rules; signs signs everywhere signs, less taxes and less regulations. They wanted freedom to live as they wanted too. The Swamp never goes away. They lingered and outlived the 1960's. The Swamp of today is far way worse than that of the 1960's. What did you, personally, get from the $10 trillion in deficit spending during Obama's 8 years? The Swamp did very well. Look at all the new houses in Washington suburbs built during the almost great recession. Swamp is recession proof because it steals using law.
Liberals, who believe in the past; social changes, should also fighting against any Swamp, since the swamp of yesterday is from the past. It is like a large ship making a turn with the gyros trying to right the course change. For example, the blacks did not evolve under 8 years of Obama, even with $10 trillion in borrowing, since the Swamp of the past still lingers and did not allow it. The head of the beast is not Trump. He is a trouble maker like the young people of the 1960's. The swamp lied about those demonstrators and activists, also. They also used dirty tricks.
