WASHINGTON ― In 2005, the foundation run by Judge Roy Moore, now the Republican nominee for a Senate seat in Alabama, accepted a $1,000 donation from a group founded by Willis Carto, a white supremacist, Nazi supporter and World War II vet who famously said he regretted fighting for the U.S instead of Germany.

The Foundation to Defend the First Amendment is one of several nonprofit groups Carto used to shuffle money around to his anti-Semitic and racist conspiracy publications, to fund Holocaust deniers, and, apparently, to donate to Moore’s nonprofit. The Carto-founded group touts its support for Moore and his Foundation for Moral Law on its web site. The contribution to Moore’s group stands out as one of just a handful it has made to organizations not explicitly involved in Holocaust denial.

It only keeps getting better. As senators and congressmen keep getting primaried from the right, this is where our GOP party is heading.

I have the perfect slogan for Roy Moore: "Making American White, Straight and Stupid Again".

Mr. Moore may be the only candidate to create a situation were a Democrat could win in Alabama

Nope, it won't happen, unfortunately. Alabama is a dark, dark red state, bless their hearts. They'd sooner elect satan that a Democrat, 'cause you know, Democrats are much worse than satan.

This is s long shot race by any standard, but it is worth pursuing such odds when times are tough.

1. I am not a Roy Moore fan.

2. I intend to take complains about Roy Moore's foundation receiving questionable monies from anyone who supported Clinton with a chunk of salt the size of my desk.

Polls currently have it at 50/50

One poll has it tied compared to several which have Moore up a decent amount. And that particular poll had Trump with an implausibly low 48-47 approval/disapproval rating.

That said, if things shift and Moore loses I'd be far from devestated. Not super thrilled about handing Democrats 3 freebie years of a Senate seat they have no business holding, but Moore is truly awful so it may be worth it. Especially if it discourages Moore-esque candidates in the future.

Do you not like the politics of the democratic Alabama senate candidate, Doug jones?

Why do Democrats have no business holding this Senate seat?

Naturally I have some disagreements with him, but he's far closer to me than Moore, and I actually like some of what I've heard from him economically. Were it a governor's race I'd support him easily over Moore. But it's not just between them. This race has a huge impact on the balance of the Senate.

I understand that, and agree that Moore is a living, breathing, hypocritical sack of human excrement.

I hope is lies about taking big money from his foundation work against him.

Fair enough. The balence of power in the senate is why I am rooting for Doug Jones.

:lamo

****ing leftists....

Hillary Clinton and damned near every democrat has been receiving sustained funding from a perverted child molester and rapist. (That may be confusing..you probably thought I meant her husband)

but apparently1 time back in 2005 a nazi group donated to a charitable foundation.

****...thats some heavy duty high ground you are on bro.

Then Moore should win going away, but he won't. Maybe there is some sanity left in that state.

That's more than fair for someone who'd rather the Democrats be in charge. Although may I suggest in addition to that reason you support Jones because Moore is simply vile.

Thats just one small problem of so many that Roy Moore has. Its hard to find a more defective and disgusting candidate.

So a group named "foundation to defend the first amendment" donated 1k to him and he was supposed to know it was a white supremacist group? If it were a major contributor or something I could understand the outrage but I doubt he took the time to research just who was behind a 1k donation.

Whoops, Vance fails again.

Being tied to Nazis will probably help this buffoon win in Alabama. It is, after all, Alabama.

I don't think Alabamans are Nazi's. I think what motivates them more to vote for someone like Moore is their hatred of anything Democrat. They've been taught all their lives to hate and fear anything liberal. They're told every cycle that all Democrats want to do is take their guns away and make them shower with girls. I think they honestly believe that.

Well, it was 2005. I think he's had time by now. All those who demanded Clinton give back Harvey Weinstein's $ should have no problem demanding Moore give this $ back, IMO.
