Trump Hits NBC Again, but GOP Senator Has a Question

Republican Sen. Ben Sasse of Nebraska is lining up squarely against Trump on the issue. "Mr. President: Are you recanting of the Oath you took on Jan. 20 to preserve, protect, and defend the 1st Amendment?" he asked, per HuffPo.

Let the excuses begin!

Why do you continue to ask this question? No, it should not be because it was written when there were very limited choices for news/information.

Because Liberals typically suppirted and support the return of the fairness doctrine. There have been Liberals who said that the government should regulate Conservative talk radio and Fox News. The same Liberals who are wetting themselves over President Trump's comments of late.

Sasse is right. Trump should not be out there threatening to pull licenses of news networks he doesn't like. His Chief of Staff shot down the falsehoods in the press just fine.

Posters on a website are different than the President stating it. It may make those specific liberals hypocritical but it doesn't excuse the President.

It used to be a law, ya know?

Ah, how quickly they forget.

The Fairness Doctrine doesn't apply to the news.

re-implemented

It specifically applied to the news.

The Fairness Doctrine was a policy of the United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC), introduced in 1949, that required the holders of broadcast licenses both to present controversial issues of public importance and to do so in a manner that was — in the Commission's view — honest, equitable, and balanced. The FCC eliminated the policy in 1987 and removed the rule that implemented the policy from the Federal Register in August 2011.[1]

And just what do you expect Sasse to say? He has been a never Trumper from day one!

"Ben Sasse grew up in Fremont, returned as a college president to save its most important institution, and in 2014 was elected to the U.S. Senate. He’s said he won’t vote for Donald Trump, he called for a third-party candidacy, and he vowed to leave his party if it’s remade in Trump’s image."

So what's your point? He's not a Trumpette, so we shouldn't listen to him at all?

Well, yeah...that seems to be what he's saying.

I'd disagree with his position, but that seems to be his point.

It's rather interesting that a man who campaigned on the grounds of "no political correctness - you can say what you want to say about anything and anybody" would get his hair all in a bunch when that blunt critique is directed at himself. Curtaining NBC from reporting matters as they see them where this President is concerned would be the apex of hypocrisy!

You can't be more articulate in what you say nor more tactful, so you lash out at everyone who in your view attacks you. Moreover, you threaten to use your position of power as POTUS to silence a media entity's 1st Amendment rights. For shame.

Look, Mr. President. If you have a problem with what NBC is reporting, either you:

a) Stop giving them media-driven ammunition to fight with (meaning stop being stupid); or,
b) Start being more articulate concerning the matters to which you speak; or,
c) Sue the bastards ('cause we can't call NBA SOBs...that tag is reserved for (Black) professional football players) for slander....if you can.

It's really that simple, folks.

There have been conservatives who said we should ban liberal news because it's propaganda. Who gives a ****.
