Since Congress can't get its act together on HealthCare, I will be using the power of the pen to give great HealthCare to many people - FAST," President Trump tweeted Tuesday.

By Executive Order. I wonder how many on the right who moaned about Obama doing it will cheer this? In theory, I like the idea of purchasing across state lines, but is it Constitutional to do by EO?
 
Keep in mind, the cuts to medicare, medicaid, people left out because of pre-existing conditions, etc., will all help his wonderful tax reform plans to give tax cuts to corporations and the top 10%.

pardon me if i don't hold my breath in anticipation. after all, there are significant deductibles and copays to consider should i decide to do so.

I'm definitely conflicted with him using an EO to do this. Seems like the wrong way to do the right thing.

I support the idea, but I don't support the idea that a President can wipe out a law that passed Congress by his whim.

Is it legal ?

He didnt make changes to ObamaCare, to the law.
Obama's EO's were criticized when they were obviously unconstitutional. DACA comes to mind

He provided alternatives to ObamaCare, more choices with access to plans not available under the law.

The GOP can't get their **** together, and the Democrats care more about protecting a Political legacy than they do about the rising premiums and deductibles so at least its a begining.

I always supported the idea of purchasing across state lines. That not being part of the ACA was a major fault of that law.

What did Trump just do? He signed an Executive Order with the explicit purpose of undermining federal law.

The problem is much bigger than purchasing across state lines. Most people are stuck with whatever their employer offers. Recently people who have Blue Cross/Blue Shield were notified that they wouldn't be covered at the local hospital network here in downstate Illinois. These people are freaking out and Trump isn't going to fix that.

Medicare for all.

I don't know what all he plans on doing. No question something needs to be done. What we have now is pathetic and of no use to anyone having financial difficulties.There are still too many people who cannot afford health care.


I personally have been looking into Obama care now that I am in-between jobs. Too expensive and deductibles are too high. There are too many people living in poverty that are forced to buy the insurance but don't use it because they can't afford the deductibles. Now that my boss is not paying half and I am on cobra vs the good insurance I am paying twice as much for less insurance and all the deductibles have gone up. Naturally at a time when I have no income.

Plus cobra is not paying for a lot of test that my good insurance used to pay for. I have a hip replacement that needs to be x-rayed and checked periodically. With cobra I just got a bill for $400.00 and they will not cover the x-rays my doctor ordered. This the second time they pulled this crap. I told my doctor from now on no more test until I get preapproval from these corrupt rip off insurance companies. They don't do it when you are part of a big group and they are afraid of losing the business but they are proficient at screwing the individuals out there.

I support getting something done. I really wish our party puppets in congress would do something for the people but it looks as though it may have to be done by executive orders again. We need to clean house both congress and senate.

His great plan provides lower quality insurance, which is cheaper, but it also increases the cost of other plans, because it breaks up the insurance pool. Everyone else will have higher cost insurance and it helps undermine the insurance market.

His EO doesn't change the law, write new law or do away with the ACA.

Obviously the ACA is in trouble, and since the GOP cant get their **** together and the Dems are focused on saving the ACA, so something needed to be done.

Premiums are going up again in 2018

What we have, for people having financial difficulties, is Obamacare, that heavily subsidies insurance and for those with lower income, there is expanded Medicaid. If someone is poor it provides Medicaid. In your situation, your hip replacement would be considered a preexisting condition. Fortunately, insurance companies can't discriminate against you.

From where I sit, you should be thanking your stars that Obama got the ACA passed.

Clearly, you have no idea what the goals of Obamacare were. Premium cost was one of the reasons Obamacare provides subsidies.

If you need xrays or tests a lot of times if you just deal directly with testing centers with cash upfront you will get some surprising discounts. Another thing, see if you have a concierge type medical practice like this. For small monthly fee you can get access to some serious discounts on procedures and tests and medication. If you look around and at out of the normal you will be quite surprised at what you find.
