This happens a lot. The internet has doomed us all because bull**** spreads faster than truth.

Like that Vegas shooter. There was some other random-ass guy that somehow got identified as the shooter by social media. He literally gets asked on the street "hey aren't you that guy who shot up the music festival in Vegas!?" (yes, he's a ****in zombie. jesus people are dumb)

Poor bastard.

It wasnt somehow, it was a deliberate hoax by internet trolls that abused Google's algorithms to spread the hoax

If they know he's gay, then it's obviously ridiculous that he was sexually assault a woman, regardless of his name. Seems he's a known gay man.

Well his sexuality does certainly make the story slightly more stupid, but sexual assault is often more about power than it is about sex so victims don't always follow the sexuality of the perpetrator.

Something similar happened to Cubs pitcher Jon Lester when the gaggle of nincompoops was mad at Lester Holt about something or other.
