The borders would be flooded the next day with kids from all over the world.
i don't waste time on hyperbole.

So a path to citizenship, albeit an onerous 15 year path, but not allowing for family petitions.
I never thought I'd see this from the Repubs, but it seems fair. And it disavows petitions during the non-citizen process, which I like. So I'm good with it.
But I never thought it would come from the GOP!
ah. ok. so no other impact, then?
Well, you could add that families could be left together.
It would mean that people who wanted to come to the U.S. in a legal way might have a chance now instead of standing in line behind the illegals. I'm sure there are many other positive things caused by not having them illegally here.
well, there's a scary thought.
i have seen no proposals to increase legal immigration even if those protected by DACA are deported. either way, i don't support kicking them out of the country.
Keeping families together is a bad thing? Wow!
I haven't seen any proposals to increase legal immigration either, but maybe they will.
Your post ignores everything that makes your claim that Trump is to thank wrong. Scroll up and take another look.
I can throw in another point: Obama's EO allowed the dreamers to stay. Trump didn't have to do anything if he wanted them to stay.
And if you respond, don't post that stupidly transparent claim that suddenly, millions of Americans were actually really interested in the legal intricacies of EO's and found that one to be wanting after conducting fifty hours of legal research a piece. My computer might die of irony poisoning.
Oh, and pray don't try to explain that Trump has suddenly became a constitutional scholar himself.
if you didn't catch the sarcasm, i don't support splitting up families.
I was thinking similar: Cut the DACA time to 5 instead of 10, then they get a greencard and continue the normal progression. Only concern is a greencard holder can petition immediate relatives, so that means after the initial 5 yr DACA, the parents can be petitioned. I'm not too crazy about the parents getting an easy ride like that.Cut the time to citizenship in half.

Actually, I'm hoping mandatory E-Verify will be part of the DACA/Border agreement. I've seen it suggested by one of the politicos, and I'm hoping they can prevail.
And as you said, along with tougher employer penalties.

If they want to limit the number of people you can bring in to follow you - that is something that reasonable people can agree upon. But the path to citizenship and full rights as a citizen should be reasonable and shorter than currently being floated.
What should happen is the dreamers should get to go back to the old country, where they get to wait, wth their parents, in line with those who seek immigration, legally. The dreamers can have a faster track set up for them. With the current proposal, what happens when families start dumping children at the border with the hope of an ACL fast track scam for the next wave of children who will not be back ground checked due to claims of racism?
President Regan gave amnesty to 3 million illegals. American compassion led to foreign fantasy of an illegal windfall, where 20 million new illegals came. My money is on a new wave of illegal minors, who will travel to the border, with the hopes of taking advantage of the stupid gringos. None of their countries of origin would allow this. Law and order is not a third world thing. They live by corruption and bribery, so paid illegal entry will seem acceptable to them, if they pay their guides in advance. The tax payer will never see this payout. This is why you need the wall.
How about a tax on just Democrats to cover the future tab of the next wave?
My assumption would be the plan is predicated upon adequate border protection - I would hope!I see they are trying but im against this plan. Id rather see a full immigration reform bill be passed instead and something like this tacked on to it. It also removes bargining power from the border wall talks.
I agree with your post completely.I agree.
But then again, E-verify is a freaking joke in these parts when it comes to working construction. The General Contractor gets off the hook by the use of sub crews claiming that they have no control over who the sub crews send to the job site every day......wink wink! INS gives them a pass, and the latino/Hispanic sub crews keep popping up like whacka moles. I have seen INS bust 4 Latino hangers and then see the same 4 illegal hangers on another job site a week later.
I know quite a few local American workers who have given up with framing, sheetrock (hanging & finishing) roofing, flooring.................... etc. etc. It's all Latino/Hispanic sub crews in the buildings now.
I have empathy for the Latino's but I get pissed when I see Americans on continuous unemployment or looking for day work at these rip off Labor Finder's.
No, it's not reasonable to agree upon IMO.If they want to limit the number of people you can bring in to follow you - that is something that reasonable people can agree upon. But the path to citizenship and full rights as a citizen should be reasonable and shorter than currently being floated.
That makes no sense.
You are right. What makes sense is kill the DACA bill until such time as the border and visa system is funded to be secure and enforceable (preferably a big beautiful wall). And then only grant residency without "a path to citizenship" unless they wish to return to their country of origin, apply for citizenship, and reside abroad.
It is too bad their parents chose to bring their "anchor" kids, but its no reason to reward the scam with unmerited immigration.
My assumption would be the plan is predicated upon adequate border protection - I would hope!
Without a secure border, all else is window dressing.
