Kirk Cameron: God sent Hurricanes Harvey, Irma for 'humility, awe and repentance' | Fox News
"When he puts his power on display, it’s never without reason. There’s a purpose. And we may not always understand what that purpose is, but we know it’s not random and we know that weather is sent to cause us to respond to God in humility, awe and repentance," he said in a video on Facebook.
What a wackjob, this coming from the guy that thinks a banana is the "Atheists nightmare"

That's not outrageous. It's basically, "God is awesome". Let's save the mocking for "because God is pissed-off at you scumbags".

I truly believe that Facebook does more harm than good for society.

Someone needs to ask these fundamentalists to explain the physics behind God creating a hurricane, sustaining it, and then directing it where he thinks needs to be punished or needs to be taught humility.

Oh you're one of them. Well just so you know, I'm not afraid of bananas.

And then he was schooled on the fact that that banana he was holding was HYBRIDIZED and retracted his words.

They make up the rules as they go along depending on the narrative and the point they're trying to make.

I hope these idiots are just hucksters and don't actually believe what they say. Think about it. He claims to believe in God - a supposedly omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscient being - and then to know what God does (or does not do) and why it does it.

What business does a mortal have proclaiming the acts and intent of the God it believes in?

I just don't know why people say things like this?
Devastation because we need a lesson in 'humility, awe and repentance?
Nope I just don't accept his thinking.

There is a lot of that going around. It seems that a Christians opinion can be mocked. I'll stop right there.

You were unaware that a Christian's opinion can be mocked?

In the Bible, and this is what annoys me when people say "GOD IS DOING THIS AS PUNISHMENT!" God generally went out of his way to make it clear "You are being punished". Did God tweet a warning? Put out flyers? Make an announcement and I missed it? Irma is just one each storm, so was Harvey. They formed in a slot of hurricane conducive conditions and do what hurricanes do. Rain, wind, lightning, thunder where the "winds take them". If God was sending a message, he'd be a little more clear about it I should think.

Yeah...he makes way too much sense for the atheist to comprehend...

Um, the banana that he is holding has been bred specifically by humans to produce those characteristics. The original banana strains looked very different and were not as tasty until human plant breeding altered them.

Correct, Renae...when God acts, there will be no question...everyone will know it...

21 “‘I will call for a sword against him on all my mountains,’ declares the Sovereign Lord Jehovah. ‘Every man’s sword will be against his own brother.

22 I will bring my judgment against him with pestilence and bloodshed; and I will rain down a torrential downpour and hailstones and fire and sulfur on him and on his troops and on the many peoples with him.

23 And I will certainly magnify myself and sanctify myself and make myself known before the eyes of many nations; and they will have to know that I am Jehovah.’ Ezekiel 38:21-23

You should have inserted an apostrophe before you stopped.

Opinions that depart far, far, from the rational and that are based on superstition deserve all the ridicule that's available.

boy, that sure sounds like a God of love & forgiveness

boy, that sure sounds like a God of love & forgiveness

So how much evil would you tolerate before you would act? God has more patience than any human ever thought about having...

Hmm, that would suggest that either God has emotions....or there is more than one God.

well, in the context of the thread & your question I assume you are asking how much evil would I tolerate if I were God?

Is that your question?

If so, I would have a very high toleration for this so called evil, why? Because I made an imperfect animal & am expecting that creation to be perfect & to deny its' animal instinct, the instinct it was born with & that is encoded within every one

that would be like asking God to not be God

that is not reality IMO ......
