Amazon has made a name for itself as a giant in e-commerce, logistics and cloud services both for businesses and consumers. Now it's embarking on a big move to expand its corporate presence, too. Today the company announced that it is opening a search for a city in North America to make its second headquarters, envisioned as a "full equal" to Amazon's existing home in Seattle, Washington.

How about chicago?

Toronto seems to be pretty enthusiastic about it and will probably stop at nothing to see that it does. Montreal would also make sense as the data and tech hub for Eastern Canada with good connections to both Europe and the US as well as dirt cheap electricity and sever hosting. And both offer corporate tax savings.

What? They're wonderful!

I think we should change BC and AD to BA and AA. BA was back when things where primitive, AA was the advent of modern civilization.

Wonder if they'd have any interest in the old Motorola campus in Schaumburg. Don't know why they'd come to our failing state, though...

Given that Google moved to Chicago, and other large tech enterprises like Vivid Seats and Solstice are here, Chicago is very viable.

Since tech companies like to go to urban areas, Schaumburg would not be likely.

I knew I shouldn't have had that third glass of wine...

I doubt Amazon wants their employees getting gunned down at random by out of control police and out of control gangs. Las Vegas would be a genuinely nice choice. If they're looking for something more "CENTRAL USA" they could go for just about anywhere in Missouri. Omaha would be a good choice. I haven't got any ideas for the East Coast.

If they go US east coast Pittsburgh could be it.

With Trump threatening to clamp down on Visa's Canada could actually have a chance

The problem with those locations is infrastructure, in that they are severely lacking. Then there is also the fact they probably want to move a city talent will also want to move to.

It is all going depend upon who is willing to give away the most but if it were not I would pick Kansas City, it is the right kind of city and it would make the brand feel more inclusive.

Good news. I hope Amazon expands its book and product review staff because there's plenty of scammers gaming their system.

It's failing but there are plenty of big companies here. There are plenty of big companies that have their headquarters here like abbott/abbvie, baxter, mcdonalds, boeing, allstate, groupon, grubhub all come to mind. It's the third largest city and easy to find talent.

There are a lot of tech startups in the city. I think Chicago would be a great choice. But I think they will probably pick a small city. Just a gut feeling.

Denver colorado or Boston Massachusetts would be the most logical choices.

They can take over Sears when they go bankrupt.
