Anytime emotions are running high, it's a potentially dangerous situation when weapons (guns, knives, bats, fists) are involved. Not everyone is emotionally able to control themselves, as this man apparently was not.

This guy should be arrested and charged with attempted murder, but that doesn't mean his poor behavior should dictate that other emotionally stable persons should not be able to carry arms. The vast majority of the time, those who are visibly armed, are not a threat. And, that's the key -- visibly. This guy was trying to cause trouble, shooting and then quickly hiding his handgun. That's pretty much what a gangbanger does.

I would not attend one of these types of protests, to support either side, because they attract people who are itching for a fight. At the same time, we have to protect individual rights. If groups were allowed to hold their protests, and nobody showed up to counter-protest, it would take all the wind out of their sails. That's the best way to handle these types of things. But now, we have a growing "resistance" that is gung-ho to silence the first groups and the scuffles between them are attracting more unstable folks on both sides.

Nothing happens in a vacuum.

In defense of antifa’s tactics, one member told AOL.com:

"Resistance is not always safe and pretty, but it is immaculate compared to our monstrous government."

Another member said the group wouldn’t rule out the use of firearms or other powerful weaponry at future protests.
