Trump threatened a standoff on the issue during a rally in Phoenix on Tuesday night, saying, "If we have to close down our government, we're building that wall."

You mean Mexico is not going to pay for that wall? So then Trump will shut down the government if they don't spend our tax dollars to pay for that wall?

Meanwhile Trump cuts spending by banning transgenders...

Personally, I think the ban was to keep part of the left crazy and fragmented. IIRC, it wasn't exactly a drain on the military budget.

This whole government-shutdown-over-funding-the-wall-Mexico-was-supposed-to-pay-for thing is definitely a popcorn moment for Trumps opponents though. Also, don't forget to dust off your Obama-era budget showdown quotes! I foresee a parade of hypocrisy.

I wouldn't be surprised if a provision for allocating funds for Trump's border wall finds its way into legislation for FEMA/disaster relief funds for Houston, TX flood. It'll probably all be tied into raising the debt limit, and when Democrats turn it down (along with a few fiscally conservative Republicans), the Republican majority will first accuse them for not caring enough about the Texas flood victims and, in turn, blame Democrats for (threatening) a government shutdown.

"Never let a disaster go to waste."

No doubt. Right out of the FOX News playbook.

Interesting dichotomy. The US can invest renewable energy, which brings the world together to combat a worldwide problem - Climate Change. Or the US can invest in a wall, to create division, and exacerbate worldwide problems.

Wasn't Mexico supposed to pay for this wall?
