I have a facebook friend posting that the solar eclipse is proof of god, because the moon is the exact size to cover the sun, and it can't be a coincidence.

So....I had to tell him about what an annular eclipse was....hilarity is ensuing...(also that the moon is slowly moving away from the earth, and in the future it won't cover the sun...

Science...its true whether you believe it or not.

Wow, I learned something new today! Also, according to this article the earth's rotation is slowing.

If left unabated the Moon would continue in its retreat until it would take bout 47 days to orbit the Earth. Both Earth and Moon would then keep the same faces permanently turned toward one another as Earth's spin would also have slowed to one rotation every 47 days.

The moon is moving away from the earth a little over an inch a year. So in about 63,000 years the moon will be a mile further away.

Something else to worry about.
