Well you do know that I say that this world order is in a death spiral, that it is now too broken to rehabilitate, and that the crash will bring great pain. The speed at which we forgot how to play this game of civilization is impressive. Just as one example so far as I have seen I am the only one in the so called White Supremacist threads arguing for hating the sin, not the sinner.....arguing that it is the bad ideas that must be put down, not the people who give voice to them.

I mean this is really basic stuff, important stuff, but I seem to be the only one who remembers.

I reread the statement. I'm pretty sure this is the only assertion they made about what Johnny Cash would have thought of these dead ender white supremacists and Nazis.

"He would be horrified at even a casual use of his name or image for an idea or a cause founded in persecution and hatred."

I guess what they should have said is, "Based on the foregoing, and our our lifetime with the man, it is our considered opinion that he would be horrified....." Statement fixed, "problem" solved! :peace

You think the idea can be separated from the thinker? An evil idea is only evil because someone expresses it. You can't 'put down' an idea, you can only stop it's expression.
How do you think suppressing evil works? It works by confronting it and stopping peope who promote it.

Just about that entire statement they were talking for themselves. I quoted the only assumption about what Johnny Cash might have believed, so the statement could have been fixed entirely with "We believe he would be horrified..." or words to that effect, one time.

Not sure why you have a problem with that statement. It's weird to me. At worst the family made clear THEIR views which was - do not associate our family name with your abhorrent cause! If that's how they feel, what's the problem with them expressing it? If I was in their shoes, I'd have probably done the same. Wouldn't want my family name associated with those vermin either, or for anyone to have any doubt where I and my family stood on the issue.

We are all connected, ideas flow from person to person, both the good ones and the bad ones....of course ideas are separate from any individual. You cant stop the expression of ideas you can only drive them underground, make it dirty, and when the truth is made dirty which will happen every time because power is always working to drive truth it does not like underground watch out because the deciders then lose all credibility, the ones who caused it are found to be no longer supporting the good, supporting civilization. No every man is free to make up his own mind, if we dont have that then we dont have anything, I reject totally your claim that the collective gets to decide my mind for me...what belongs there, what does not, that is Dark Age thinking and I will not have it. The People of the Light say bring all the ideas out to play, let's have a contest to see what is true and what is not true for so long as people still care about truth the best ideas will always win in the end.

As I explained there is no such right...the family controls neither the art Cash made nor do they control the buying and selling of the products they approved the creation of.....the most they can do is to refuse to accept the payments the estate receives from the "wrong" people buying Cash memorabilia or the "wrong" people listening to his music.

Gosh, neither I nor the family made anything like a claim that they could legally prohibit ANYONE from wearing Johnny Cash gear. And I said their views, aka their desire, their wish, preference - not their legal right. It's like you're trying to find some way, any way, to hate on the family here.

But you are right, they did speak mostly for them, and they did request not demand....but "Sick" that a long dead mans art and likeness that either he or they approved is being used in ways they dont like and cant control and always knew that they cant control??!!

It would be different if "Johnny Cash" t-shirts became a 'thing' for a group of those morons, but some guy wearing T-shirt with X on it is just that. I'm sure many wore Nike sneakers, but that doesn't reflect on Nike or threaten to associate them with Nike unless a bunch of them decide Nike Model X is their uniform and you see 40 of them all lined up in their Nike Model X shoes.
