Why Were the Police Held Back in Charlottesville?

lol...and Trump sure lied when he said he'll MAGA. What he should have said is that he'll get us all to be at each other's throats within 6 months.

Obamas supporters are having trouble adjusting to civilization.

Yeah, when people pushing for an ethno-white state know the new president has their back, Obama supporters get a bit jumpy. Imagine that.

It's Trump's country. He's not supposed to embolden Nazis by giving them the green light to be all the Nazi they can be.

Trump, Making Nazis Great Again.
and as usual you make no sense.

1. Trump does not own the country. You are wrong.
other than federal elected powers trump has no control over what the mayor of a city does or doesn't do.
so the mayor trying to blame trump is bogus. He failed to use the police or gave them the order to stand down
and let the situation blow itself out.

adding the police could have put more people in harms way and made an already volatile issue worse.
trump never gave them the green light in fact he came out and was against all the violence going on there.

you might want to actually read what he said. by that would require a bit of honesty.

Just like I said numerous times. The left totally lied when they said, "When they go low, we go high" when what they really meant was, "When they go low, we can go even lower".

Can you provide some examples of how the Obama administration went "lower"?

Michelle Obama said that during the campaign. Since the campaign and after the election the "left" has done nothing but go low. Hillary's campaign was months of constantly going low against Trump and the "left" has been constantly going low ever since the election. I never actually said the "Obama administration". The left includes many different people including politicians and the left leaning mainstream media and the many lefties here on DP who have shown that no matter how low the "right" went against Obama, they can do better against Trump and the Republicans. Both sides often claim the moral high ground and then turn around and show that neither side is really any better than the other.

Sorry, you're wrong. Trump leads the country and can make it very clear that Nazis are scum who should be shunned, and that their opinions should not be taken serious. He failed to do that....not by accident, either.

He made it very clear that all of the violence going on there was unacceptable and it was. so yes you are very wrong as usual.
Actually he did do that read what he said. but again that would require you being honest. which you have proven so far not able to be.

No, he did not unequivocally discredit White Nationalists. Not even close. He paid homage to some platitudes, but he certainly did not say that the things these people are saying and doing is disgusting.

And, sometimes violence is not unacceptable, BTW. We use violence to crush bad things all the time.

He unequivocally discredited both groups which is what he should have done.
you didn't read what he said. Both groups are a plague on society and should be stuff back in the holes that they
came out of.

They had better equipment than our state police had??? so this is what we pay hundreds of millions of dollars in taxes for?? So the police can just watch people kill each other?

How patently absurd. The governor ought to step down. So should the mayor if he was in any way responsible for a stand-down order.

How did these heavily armed people, the ones with clubs and armor and masks, etc., even GET to the demonstration area? Does it not make sense to cordon off a troubled area and stop the influx of people? Keep cars away? Does the right to assemble include the right to come armed and ready for battle? It should not.

Our cities simply HAVE to have plans in place to handle these debacles. Not to do so is an utter and complete failure of government.

Rant over.
As I understand it, he declared a state of emergency, thus they had to disband.

While I think it is valid to question planning for the event, you really need to question someone who demands the police automatically insert themselves in a violent highly volatile situation and risk their lives.

Do note that if the neo-Nazis did not plan with local authorities on set up to ensure their safety then they have culpability in the situation too.

It has the appearance they wanted a certain level of violence as it would help fire up their base.

So are you saying he lost your vote? Pleeeze.

Plus, when you got guys like this who are (according to google search) part of the protesting group....

What facilitates a violent response faster? And How fast does it escalate? Based on sheer numbers?
Tiny Charlottesville police department?

Probably would have needed the Virginia National Guard there if shots started to ring out.

Hindsight....it's what?

There are Virginia state troopers there. And they knew this event was going to take place ahead of time. I've seen more police at a gay pride parade

The police aren't tasked with protecting speech. They should be. They are tasked with protecting property - they don't do that either.

I too am appalled with the fact that the mainstream media was continually seeming to blame the white supremacists for the helicopter crash.

....and yet, even though the news media showed this clip, no one commented on the vandalism, and the mob mentality that has taken possession of these people. Just look at them.....

It's like watching a riot in a correctional, or insane asylum. Just let them march, holding pitchforks, and it's like the frenzied mob during the French Revolution!
