So, just so we are straight on this, any other white politician come out and say that they wouldn't rule out an 'all white party' would be run out of town, and rightfully so....

Maxine Watters should be an embarrassment to democrats.

I'm a little mixed. Let me ask this? Was Martin Luther King a racist because he put a collition of blacks together to protest black issues? I would assume Maxine would similarly allow whites and other races to join like MLK did.

If the answer is, MLK was not a racist, what would cause MW to be a racist if she put together a black political party?

I'm not saying it would be the right thing to do, but it rises the question of how much oppression does a race need to be under to justify race centric remedies versus clor blind remedies.

Why is it certain conservatives are always saying liberals are too focused on race but then we look at this forum and it seems it's almost always them that make race threads?

That is because you and Breitbart take extra liberty to define MW's intent.

How do you know when she was asked if she would be OK having an all black party that she meant that it would restrict membership to anyone?

If you come back with "all black" means whites would be restricted from joining, I will barf all over you.

Secondly, I would ask why would you think MW thinks such a thing would be legal? Race is a protected class. One can not restrict membership to a political party based upon race any more than one can restrict loans based upon race.

It might be more effective in a parliamentary system.

Otherwise, I believe she'd do better declaring it a voting bloc or coalition.

But who knows? I'm all for more parties and more voices.

Think of it like the NAACP, which also does not restrict membership to only blacks BECAUSE IT IS ILLEGAL!

I'm not getting into what "all" means because in the discussion it was not clarified whether that means whites could not join and a reasonable person would assume that since it is illegal that it was not the intent.

This is true fake news, people who are too lazy to get follow up claification and they make up the intent of a politician to fit their narrative that their viewers want.

I get it, got to pay the bills some how.

Rev. King was ALWAYS inclusive. In fact, that was the heart and soul of his message - unity among all people.

I agree 100 percent. It doesn't dispute the fact that his organization and social justice was largley by blacks, for blacks and orchestrated in black institutions like churches. Heck he even was first leader of the Southern Negro Leaders Conference.

Was establishing the Southern Negro Leaders Conference racist back then? Would it be today?

1. No I do not have think MW is on par with MLK.

2. The CBC is not part of this discussion.

3. You can research your own on exactly how blacks are opressed.

Now if you want to talk about MW's intent on whether she meant a blacks only political party or a party focused on black allowing other races to join, please let me know.
