There have been a few dead-enders after the peak of Klan acceptance & power in the 20's. Why pretend the Klan was ever
an important element in the history of America after say 1929, it wasn't!

as a meaningful presence in American life. Its later association with Nazi elements further blackened its reputation.

Today the Klan's importance is that it reminds of us of old days when certain southern conservatives went bad.

When people blame the 'bolsheviks' for recognizing racism, then we know the blamers are people to watch very carefully.

Mankind has a long history of amending, editing and re-writing history.

There have been books burnt. Statues have been taken down. Mountain carvings have been annihilated. People with "forbidden knowledge" have been silenced and often even burnt at the stake.

It doesn't actually change historical truths but in 100 years from now most people won't know the real difference between real history vs. the created history. They probably won't even care. It can reasonably be argued that perception is reality.

Trotski coined the term racist, that is an opinion, other people have used the word decades before Trotski.

The first mention of the adjective is supposedly from Gaston Méry who used it in his work of 1895-1897/1902
