Texas Drops Its Knife Restrictions. Prepare to Carry a Sword!

Sikh's are a liberal pet minority so no one on the left will complain about them

This is true. In Canada Sikh students are allowed to bring knives to school.

assuming the gun is drawn-yes

And assuming the sword is sheathed and there's no quick draw contest. All sorts of scenarios could be at play I guess.

It'll be interesting to see what the crime stats for the use of blades vs guns are over the next few years in Texas.

My wife's finger nail file could be deadly in the right circumstances.

Battle axes make the cut?

I prefer my LaGana Combat Tomahawk myself

Wouldn't they be covered under "spears"? Course, they didn't do the 5th Texas much good at Valverde. :doh

Not sure.

The othe lancer company burned their lances after Valverde. They took that lesson well.

I've always thought it was a little ridiculous than I have a permit to carry a pistol, but can't carry a switchblade, punch dagger, dirk, brass knuckles or yadda yadda long list....

yeah in Ohio a permit is only for a handgun (So I have a SIG AR 15 "pistol" loaded in the car)

Older adults write laws. They can see themselves packing pistol. They see knives and Nucks as the weapons of tough young men. In some states, having a concealed knife was more severe a punishment than packing heat. Timid Lawmakers figured people who pack "bloody iron" tend to be a tougher type of wolf than those who might carry a pistol to ward off attack.

Sikh's are neither liberal nor conservative but, unlike most, they try and live out life according to principles.

It's nothing you'd understand.

Meh. Apparently nobody has been inconvenienced enough to challenge it since 1958.

So you carry a switchblade illegally?
clip showing-not concealed.

Brass knuckles are still illegal in Texas, but plenty of convenience stores sell them right out in the open. Some laws are just not enforced...... Unless you get caught. LOL.

Doesn't matter. My concealed carry license got automatically converted to a license to carry when the new law was passed. When I carry, though, I still carry concealed. If you carry openly, you are inviting yourself to be the first target in an armed robbery.

Cool. HEMA should start to become popular over there.

in ohio, its allegedly a misdemeanor to sell a switchblade knife to anyone who is not a sworn LEO. People sell them openly at gun shows. I asked both the FBI general counsel in Cincinnati and a Federal Prosecutor who used to be a state prosecutor why no one gets charged. Both noted that the law was stupid and after Heller, it wouldn't survive a court challenge since no one can argue-with a straight face that a switchblade is

NOT IN COMMON USE

or is UNUSUALLY DANGEROUS

it comes from brain addled law makers watching west side story on acid trips

we are talking the clip on a knife. most working men in Ohio have one, I was one of several DOJ attorneys in our office in SWO who carried knives like that.

they sell them at gun shows as PAPERWEIGHTS. If you carry them concealed in Ohio its a misdemeanor. DO you know what a archery release aid is? my son shoots one that is a set of brass knuckles set up to work as a release.

If we're going to be partisan about it, the bigoted morons on the right who have several times mistaken them for Muslims might complain. A friend and colleague of my wife's was attacked and nearly killed by one of those right wing assholes. Sitting on a bench in a train station, stabbed several times....

They have

A university had an anti knife on campus policy but allowed bearded turbans to walk around armed because they were protected and coddled unChristian minorities

Like I said, they are a liberal pet minority that even undisclosed liberals give special treatment to

That's nice.
