Conservative Oklahoma senator charged with three felonies after child prostitution investigation

NORMAN — A conservative state senator who once wanted to be a missionary was accused Thursday in a child prostitution case of offering to pay a 17-year-old boy for sex.

Sen. Ralph Shortey, R-Oklahoma City, was charged with three felony counts, one week after police found him with the teenager in a Moore hotel room.

Well hell sure wasn't made in Arizona. Being that satan visited there once and left... bitching about how hot it was.

I don't hate them. I disagree with their religion. Or just about any religion, truth be told. I believe in God, but not religion.

But I know you had to throw that in there. Because all of us libbos want Sharia law, or whatever nonsense the RW blogs are peddling this week.

Exactly.

We want religious law as long as it's not that of white Protestantism. :2razz:

Shouldn't religion be a choice??
I'm not much for organized religion - just another way to control people.

Democrats are just worried about Puerto Rico tipping over and falling into the ocean

What has that got to do with what this guy said?? Or are you doing your Trump imitation and deflecting.............look!! Squirrel!!

There must be a type of correlation of the conservative mind set to very dogmatic religious interpretations. I would imagine this guy takes it a step further and believes that anything bad that happens such as being raped or having a sick kid is a punishment from God.

Unfortunately, when you have such beliefs it means the believer also is fine regulating and codifying their subjective interpretation of morality.

Unfortunately we as a society have a blind spot to Christianity and very rarely use particular fundamental Christian beliefs as a reason to not vote for a person, thus gov is overweighted with radical Christians like this loser.

It gets deep. Does this man believe in social safety nets, heal care, etc. or does he believe that belief is his version of God is all the safety net one needs? Does he think that any critique of Isreal risks a curse from God? It goes on and on.

It is time for US voters to at least have a basis of how religious beliefs will cause a person to vote on issues before voting. We would never elect a Muslim who believes in fundamental Sharia Law, so why are we voting in people who believe any thing that bad happens to an individual or nation is a punishment from God for being immoral, such as allowing gay marriage?

When are we going to wake up and smell the coffee on this one.

Oklahoma Republican Declares That Rape Is The ?Will Of God?

"It’s a great question to ask. And, obviously if it happens in someone’s life, it may not be the best thing that ever happened, but — so you’re saying that God is not sovereign with every activity that happens in someone’s life and can’t use anything and everything in someone’s life and I disagree with that.”

God wants you to get raped. According this GOPer at least. Does that mean God also wants your ***** to be grabbed?

I love trumps lawyer who says a husband can't rape his wife ( after Don dragged his wife by the hair and raped her)

This is a clear violation of church and state. Remove the ass from office.

I think that if we lock this Okie in the closet with the 400 pound horndog, "Bubba," he gonna' see the light and have an epiphany. If not, his butt hurt just an Act of God, don't ya' know?

Well, yeah, which is why I used the ":2razz:" smiley.

The curse of evangelicalism, Pentecostalism, and fundamentalism placed by God on America has not been lifted.

:doh Major League Face Palm ... always coming from The Right. :doh

Interesting, does this have possible legal implications for freedom of religion? If everything that happens is God's will, then is God responsible if someone gets murdered? If the murderer truly believes that God required him to murder someone, does freedom of religion allow him to do so? After all "we ought to obey God, rather than men" Acts 5:29.

I'd request to see some scripture on that.

Best look in the Old Testament. I'm sure you'll find something like that, sooner rather than later.

They likes their OT in OK. ;)

Our Judeo Christian Heritage is just so sweet, eh?

Hate your next door neighbor, but don't forget to say grace.

If you put that much credence in the Old Testament, you are not a Christian. A Christian should always place more faith in the teachings of Jesus, which do not appear in the Old Testament.

There are people who believe in the Old Teatament, but not the New so much. They are called Jews.

Was it really? Maybe I'm too enmeshed in internet to notice how far I've gone off the deep end, but that wasn't very dark to me.

It was funny dark because it wasn't a slew of nasty words or violent words. Just a collection of words implying that humanity either should've never started or should be genocided. But not with harsh words. Which is what made it funny.

Fair enough. I guess that sometimes, it really is the little things in life that count.

And do you notice that whenever they do, it's almost always a Republican?

Gee, Phys251, it's almost as if fundamentalist Christians are almost entirely conservative or something! You got a mind like a steel trap there, you master of observation!

Huh? I don't get your point.

If He's not omnipotent and if He doesn't always do the right thing for all, then He's not God!

Just sayin'.
