LaVoy Finicum shooting: FBI agent indicted for alleged false statements | OregonLive.com

While this has received mention in the MSM it has been overshadowed by reports on Trump tweets and other crap.

It's not every day that an HRT member gets indicted for covering up a crime. What I'm getting out of this after reading a few articles is that the HRT guy knocked out a couple of rounds just as Finicum was getting out of the vehicle and while he had his hands up. To muck things up even more the agent denied shooting and may have even collected the casings. If that's the way it went down then I can totally understand Finicum going for his weapon. It doesn't really change the outcome of anything from a legal standpoint but it damned sure changes the narrative that has been put forward and calls into question what other stuff the FBI may have been covering up.

Kudos to the Deschutes County Sheriff for sticking with this.

Strange that the FBI would cover up anything since shooting Finicum was entirely justified and there was nothing shady about shooting him given the circumstances.

Ultimately, the cop who took Finicum out was justified in doing so. This story, however, brings into question who actually started the gunfight. If Finicum was surrendering, as it appears he was, then the agent had no business pulling the trigger. Since the agent seems to have manipulated evidence of his shots there's a good bet he knew that too.

Well we shall see during the trial. For any other input I would need more evidence.

Here is the full synchronized video that shows his familys video from inside the vehicle along with a synced aerial video. There were a lot of shots fired. Oregon state policy initially stopped him as he was driving. He said he was on his way to talk to the sherrif and they could follow him there. He eventually started driving and the shooting started while he was still driving. and then he stopped and got out and there was more shooting. as to who and where I'm not sure I had read some time ago that both policy and FBI fired shots.

Armed man who defied law enforcement for weeks, threatened to "never be taken alive", being chased, refuses to pull over, and then gets shot. Just tragic. Really. I don't know who get the Darwin award first, this guy or the guy with the 50 cal to the face. OK, its' the 50 cal guy. Both have already procreated though.
I joke about a man who really, really, believed in what he was doing. I commend his commitment. I condemn his actions. I condemn his friends and family who watched this happening and didn't tell him to come home, that this could end very badly.
People who do really stupid stuff while in the vicinity of law enforcement have a habit of getting shot. Some of them are criminals, some are just unlucky. Finicum was one of them.
We do not legislate at the end of a gun.

The FBI covering something up? Say it ain't so!!!

If it ever goes to trial, I'm sure they will find a jury who will acquit him.

If the agent lied about firing his weapon and collected the cases, then he believed he did something that was at least very questionable.
