'I can't imagine this situation being acceptable': Trump's new lawyer reportedly steered more than $60 million from his nonprofit to family members

A nonprofit run by Jay Sekulow steered millions of dollars to his family members, according to a report in The Guardian published Tuesday.

Sekulow is one of President Donald Trump's lawyers and has emerged as the public face of his legal team. He also runs a nonprofit called Christian Advocates Serving Evangelism, or Case. Its sister organization is the American Center for Legal Justice.

The Guardian obtained documents that it said showed that Sekulow approved plans in 2009 - at the height of the recession - "to push poor and jobless people to donate money to his Christian nonprofit."

Guardian reporter Jon Swaine also found that Case had pushed "more than $60m to Sekulow, his family, and their businesses" since 2000.

Sekulow and his family may be in violation of a federal law prohibiting nonprofits from paying "excessive benefits" to the people running them, according to experts who spoke to The Guardian.

so, here we have the Jew, Jesus, Jew lawyer working for Trump (of all 'honest' folk) $kimming ten$ of million$ from a charitable entity; reminds me of the Trump Jr. golf charity scam, just a HELL OF A LOT BIGGER .........

From your link;

"The financial arrangements between the ACLJ, Case and all related entities are regularly reviewed by outside independent compensation experts and have been determined to be reasonable. In addition, each entity has annual independent outside audits performed by certified public accounting firms. Further, the IRS has previously conducted audits of the ACLJ and Case and found them to be in full compliance of all applicable tax laws."

Nough said.

Fake news.

Re: 'I can't imagine this situation being acceptable': Trump's new lawyer reportedly

Real news. The fake excuse has worn out from overuse by its adherents.

" ...Telemarketers for the nonprofit, Christian Advocates Serving Evangelism (Case), were instructed in contracts signed by Sekulow to urge people who pleaded poverty or said they were out of work to dig deep for a “sacrificial gift”.

“I can certainly understand how that would make it difficult for you to share a gift like that right now,” they told retirees who said they were on fixed incomes and had “no extra money” – before asking if they could spare “even $20 within the next three weeks ..."

Then you should have no trouble answering these questions...

What are the names of these "experts"? What is their experience that makes them "experts"? Do these "experts" even exist?

The only named source in your link (which wasn't directly available from the OP) was Daniel Borochoff. And he didn't have anything to say other than a soundbite. Very unusual for a charity that supposedly specializes in investigating charities. If there was anything inappropriate he should have been able to say so right then and there but he didn't because he couldn't.

Apparently not independent compensation experts, certified public accounting firms or the IRS.

That's a statement from his lawyer's spokesman. It's not some ironclad guarantee that everything's on the up and up. To say nothing of the fact that this clown claims to be a Christian. Rich man, eye of needle, heaven, etc....

Btw, would you possibly be interested in a perpetual-motion brick that I have for sale?

It's also a verifiable and documented statement.

So there's that.

It's also a verifiable and documented statement.

So there's that.

It's also something that hasn't been verified or documented.

So there's that.

"Over two decades, Sekulow and his charities have faced criticism from watchdog groups. The charities have not responded to annual requests by the Better Business Bureau and CharityWatch to voluntarily release financial data and to clear up inquiries that members of the public have sent to the watchdog groups.

The ACLJ and CASE are not accredited by the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability, a financial standard-bearer for over 2,000 Christian charities nationwide.

Tax and nonprofit experts who reviewed recent disclosures by the charities’ at the request of The Post raised concerns about the family members’ salaries and said the charities do not meet the highest standards for transparency and accountability."

Accusations and rebuttal is all this is at this time. Until evidence of a crime surfaces and an investigation ensues that's how it stays.

Of course! I wasn't and wouldn't argue differently.

But now, of course, that this has come to light and Sekulow is in the public eye like never before, this might be a very interesting year for him.

Fake news.

Fake president with fake lawyer.

Sure, and Trump says that he can't release his tax returns because his returns are being audited by the IRS. Just more B.S. I'll believe it when I see documentation from the IRS.

Fake news.

The only things fake are statements coming from either Trump or his spokespeople.

So, in your opinion, who speaks the truth?

The most reliable news comes from Trump himself.

Anyone who's willing to put their name and credentials attached to a story is more likely to be telling the truth. This rules out 90% of the MSM since they're overly reliant on "anonymous sources". The reason why so many people tune in to Fox is because, even if you don't agree with their obvious slant, at least most of the time they have actual named sources.

For example CNN recently imposed a rule that any stories about Russian interference now require the info to be run past 2 editors. All of a sudden CNN hasn't run a single story about Russia in nearly a week. What happened Parrish? Why do you think that after CNN imposing a rule requiring source verification, the stories about Russia have come to an end? Feel free to indulge in some speculation here because it sure does look like CNN has been generating fake news for 7 months.
